I got the same thing as #5. Nothing. It made me fill out the form for the license key but there was no download link. I tried 3 times

Didn't install for me. I get an error for a drive letter that isn't being used. I did not have an opportunity to choose the install location, so it wasn't user error.

OK, tried this out on a couple of our PCs and it works pretty much as advertsed. In fact the YouCam settings offered a little extra when enabled on our lower-powered PC. Should explain that both PCs have an Intel quad-core cpu. The main PC has a Core i5-4590 @3.3GHz. This is a fairly powerful cpu, and it's augmented with a separate nVidia GTX-460 graphics card. The secondary PC has a low-powered, embedded Intel Celeron J1900 cpu @ 2.00GHz and drawing only 2 watts when idling and max. 10 watts running at 100%. Using the integrated IntelHD Graphics, YouCam offers an extra recording format/file, namely .mp4. Also, it offers recording quality selector for good/better/best.It's good to see YouCam include these options. The software works just fine on the lower powered PC as well as the more powerful one. In both cases the motion-detect surveillance cam option and the Face-in facial recognition for logging into your computer are both present and working OK. The facial recognition, in particular, is a nice security feature we never had with Logitech software for any of our Logitech webcams.

This software is better than every program I've tried -- it shows a perfect picture no matter how cheap your webcam maybe. I feel kind of dumb not knowing about YouCam years ago. Thanks, giveawayoftheday and Cyberlink.

Purple faces really?
The program setup downloads a downloader program. After the 186 MB download it will try to install but the program gets hung until you give it administrator priviledges. I find older programs work better with XP compatibility on Win 7 64 bit. The readme file directs to a web site which requires an email address to reveal a product code to finish the installation. The program works but only on a USB connected webcam and it has no adjustment for hue just brightness and contrast. Unless you are using the templates to amuse your friends it is not very practical or useful. Too many hoops to install it and doesn't do anything more than the program that came with the camera. I am removing it.

YouCam 4 came pre-installed on my Lenovo laptop (Intel Core i5 @2.6GHz / 3GB RAM / 500GB HDD / nVidia GTX550). It has many of the same features as today's GiveAway such as screen capture, but YouCam 5 includes a couple of extra features:
1. The "face recognition" feature for secure login.
2. The "effects" you can add to your image for video chat, etc. can be used at resolutions "below 1280x720". On my YouCam 4 the effects are limited to resolutions "below 640x480" which is a big step down in image quality. So, YouCam 5 has a big advantage here.

YouCam 4 works well on the laptop which came with Windows 8 64-bit. It has been trouble-free through numerous Windows Updates, Windows 8.1, etc.

Also noted on their website that the latest version is YouCam 6.

Installed on my PC with Win 7 64 bit OS. It opened and asked me to open ManyCam which I use to operate my Dell monitor webcam. I did but never got a picture. Closed all and then tried opening ManyCam first and then YouCam. YouCam 5 wouldn't open. Never got a picture with YouCam 5. Uninstalled.

I also do not use my webcam alot but I do Skype with my sister. I have used You Cam for a few years and I am pleased with it. I have very low light conditions in my home. The theater mode in You Cam solves this problem, not completely but enough that I don't have to shine a spotlight on myself in order to get a half decent picture. Also, my sister says the audio transmission is better when You Cam is on. You Cam is not just a toy it does have a serious side too.

A lot of effort to get this programme “on board", but I succeeded anyway.
Just to let potential users know, when you use your Skype in conjunction
with YouCam 5, it shows a 180 degree horizontal view to the person you are on Skype with.
For example, when you raise your right hand it appears as a left hand to the other
person. This did not happen using an earlier version I had which has now been overwritten by version 5.
If you turn off YouCam 5 while still on Skype, the other person notices a “180 Degree Horizontal Flip”.

There is a setting in properties, image orientation. Normal or mirrored. Try changing that setting.
I got to it by going into advanced and then the advanced tab.

With NSA (and other countries' offensive spy agencies) lurking and illicitly recording ALL internet (digital activity of every sort) activity, why would anyone facilitate those violations with a cam? Or a program that enhances capture of that "evidence"?
Data collected by NSA, and 26 other secret USSA[sic] spy agencies that you cannot know about, is used only against individuals--not to enhance their rights or position or protect them. cavete tyránnis!
Then there are ICE, FBI, SS, CIA and a myriad other federal agencies doing their best to compromise your rights; they too are listening, recording, saving and watching. Why help any of them? Unless you cherish a vacation in Cuba.
The people offering this software need to code it to make sure unauthorized third-parties do not have access to feeds, during, after and when the cam is off.
Privacy violation is a violation of humanness. Violation is all the more offensive when garnered by government erected to protect and serve its people. ©2015
PS. Remember how well this worked in 1933 Germany.

Doktor Thomas, I fully agree with your concerns but short of living in a completely shielded bunker with no outside avenues of connection with the world how safe can you be from possible surveillance? The reality today is that it is nearly impossible and certainly outside of the ability of most people to protect themselves from the sophisticated technologies available to spy agencies. I doubt seriously that the NSA, CIA or a host of other agencies around the world really need YouCam or any other commercial product of it's ilk to accomplish it's mission of gathering data on everyone. However, I do appreciate the fact that you raise the subject because I believe that in the end this is what is going to make a difference. Snowden's revelations certainly woke more than a few people up and put the pressure on the spy agencies to cease their illegal spying.

Yes you can worry about everything but it will not help you! Or, Prevent company's from hacking and/or spying! One thing to keep in mind is that all WEB-cams have an LED to notify you that the camera is "ON"! If the camera is powered "ON" This LED is connected to the same circuit as the camera! Hence is your Camera LED is "ON" And you are not using it? Or, Have not turned it "ON"? Or, Activated some WEB-Cam software such as today's GOTD software? I would Unplug the USB cable to the WEB-Cam? Or, If your cam is built-in such as a Lap-Top or tablet! Try Power OFF/ON Rebooting! ASAP! That LED can NOT be "ON" unless You? Or some Hacker/Spy has turned "ON" your WEB-Cam! Simple as that! Just like every Movie Or, Television Camera MUST Have a indicator light\LED facing where the lens is pointed to prevent people from having their photos or movies with them appearing in them "With Out" There permission! Or, consent! The ONLY exception is SPY-Cams on privet property to monitor production? Or, A company's inventory, Or, Security! If your WEB-Cam is in use to invade your privacy Or, "Spy on You!" The LED Must and will Be "ON" Unless someone has tampered with your Cam? Not Likely! FYI:

As Karl says " The software makes a good professional impression. Whether you use the “funny” presets to modify your webcam or not, the additional features of changing the webcam features go beyond my Logitech webcam software and are easier to change" My logitech HD webcam comes with it's own motion detection software, which I thought was pretty good until now. Ucam seems to have a better area recognition detection and you can alter the detection area to where you want. Only thing lacking is that it doesnt time stamp the video taken.

Other than that i’ll keep it too.

well, i downloaded it (cca 2 minutes), installed without problems...
in description i see: "It also provides some utilities to make your work better by enhancing presentations..." - i tried this function, but it is not available. disguiding description, i wasted some time by installing and testing a program useless for me (i dont need face login, surveliance, fancy effects nor disguising as a dog). uninstalled...
i understand if a developer doesnt offer here his best sw (newest version, pro version) for free. it is ok for me, if i need something, i am ready to pay for it (and godt sometimes shows me what i need but i didnt know it before). but please, describe really the sw you offer...

De gotd-setup needs contact with the internet:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/YouCam5Standard_20150629/Internetcontact-1.png
After that choose a folder:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/YouCam5Standard_20150629/Downloadmap.png
And the download will start:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/YouCam5Standard_20150629/Download.png
And then the real setup can start:

To add.

Just "detected" the face login. Tested and works.
Will see, whether this is better than KeyLemon. I have used KeyLemon some time on my portable, but the detection rate under different (light) conditions was so lousy that I uninstalled this after some days.

Karl, Thanks so very much for your informative, insightful and quite interesting reviews of these GAOTD products - I (and I suspect many other visitors to this site) really appreciate your disciplined efforts and fine judgment!

I do not know if you are aware of this but somehow another domain has been inserted into your web links for Today's images - I think someone might be trying to do a "dirty deed" on your good work.

In any case in my opinion, this "trickster" still can not sully the superior quality of your comments. Please keep fighting the "good fight" on behalf of us less courageous folks. Thanks again for your work!

I got 'CyberLink YouCam' a year ago ( it came in a CD alongwith few other Cyberlink Products provided with an external DVD Writer from LG Electronics) .
So it is already installed in my Dell Inspiron.

This is an awesome and pretty cool App that allows you to add some dynamic effects for video chats and webcams having a rich collection of effects, gadgets and avatars. The interface is very intuitive. The adjacent control panel gives you the flexibility to trigger effects. It also can assist to make video tutorials .

So it is really a funny as well as educational program which has the potential to become favourite and surely gonna enhance one's webcam experience.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

Hmm, what happened? The installer claims to download additional 150 MB from the I-Net, the total size of the program folder is 259 MB. I know, that I have a fast internet connection, but the "download" was finished under 1 second. I have downloaded the previous photo/power director. Is today's download part of these downloads and the "downloader" recognizes the previous setup files? Anyhow, the fastest download in my history.

To install the software you need the registration key before.

Upon start a clear structured interface opens. It recognizes my Logitech webcam without problems.

You can change the parameters of your webcam. For the installed effects, I have to reduce the resolution of my webcam:
http://i.imgur.com/EBFODrO.png
After changing resolution, I can choose between several presets.
http://i.imgur.com/eBn0nMC.png

With the first choice you can download additional presets and effects from the DZ (Directors Zone)

With additional tools you can use your webcam as a surveillance cam. This is what I use my webcam most.
http://i.imgur.com/D7htLJv.png

The software makes a good professional impression. Whether you use the "funny" presets to modify your webcam or not, the additional features of changing the webcam features go beyond my Logitech webcam software and are easier to change.
I'll keep it for this reason, I don't think, that I chat the next time disguised as dog.

Have a good start into this new week!
