For nearly ten years I have used the web-builders (first their old page-maker [whose name I can't remember] and then Site-builder) and have NEVER been happy with either. I'll give this a try just so I can hae the proggy native to my computer without having to log into a chancy WYSWIG online and discovering that it's not working or has been replaced with no warning.
This looks fairly basic, but that's all I really need for my work (frayedknotarts and oldmusicproject) which, while VERY large are still fairly simpleminded. This should fit right in.
As far as I know, PERL is a jewel from an oyster shell, so this should fit my simple mind as well.

Hi,
I have a problem to launch this application using xp-sp3, This program use 'ms dotNet 4' which is not mentioned in the system requirements, For own reasons I try never to use Apps based on it, This one already contain one in its installation package, After a while; installation finished but the program wouldn't start I just get an error message: screencapture

Got Tired of reading a bunch of nondescript reviews so I looked for myself :)This is a topic I am very familiar with having run websites for years. So lets just start with the basics. Is it worth the time and the effort to try and build a web site with today's Giveaway? ABSOLUTELY! There are countless Tools available all over the web to help you to modify your web sites if you choose to go down that road and make a very complex site. I just wanted to see if the tools in today's giveaway were able to help a novice build a usable safe and secure site that would satisfy basic Traffic needs get a site up and going. There is a nice tutorial video walking you through your creation. A bunch of subtle hints that you can add "outside scripts" to really spruce up your site. And quite frankly had enough layout templates to Get your site to look unique. If you choose to have a website uploaded to a server and use it as an every day site for basic daily traffic you really cant go wrong here..Just remember to secure your server (an encrypted server set up by a professional is something I have always recommended.. look up ioncube and my php). As far as making it mobile friendly?? there are tons of online "app creating" sites that will make it "mobile". Very nice Giveaway. Thank you Incomedia & Gaotd. 2 thumbs up :)

I use a paid version of this software and like it a lot. It has one or two quirks, but what I like most about it is that even if you update your website infrequently you will quickly recall what to do: you won't have to spend much time to re-learn how to use the program.

Why Drats? You were wise to purchase the software of this nature. This is for website creation. Websites commonly crash or go down for a variety of reasons.
If you rely on the GOTD giveaway version, it cannot be installed after the 1 day expiry limit. Then you are stuck with a problem with no solution.
Because you purchased the software, you can install and run it again.

Hi,
I registered it at the second try, don't know what is the issue, but I just "re-send" the validation mail from the installer, followed the procedure and it worked.
Need to say that my gmail account didn't receive the mail before "re-sending" it, just launched the software and will see if it feet me… I use Adobe Muse to create visual websites (well, I only use it to set shapes and colors, and work on html later).
If this softwares can do this with less resources consumption I think to use it a will : )

Well… Pretty simple thing in fact, I think that Open Element is better if you search a free thing to visualy create your website… but I will continue with Muse, it's a great app' and they make a good work with it, a little laggy when you have much pages…
"WebX5" is a good software top create websites fastly, BUT, you will need more than this app to create your own website, a website need a lot of resources, like buttons, pictures, hover effects, backgrounds…
For a real custom website we need to work with HTML and CSS, Js, flash and others excellent tools like this… but the way that WebX make us edit the pages is strange… I see 1 page divided in 4 section, you can select a "widget" from the right "menu" and drop it in the page, double-click on the widget to edit it, if like myself you start by adding a text widget to try to add custom html in the page you will see that it's pretty basic.
There is some effects for Images (like bevel, shadow, reflect, rotate…), and you can select the font style from a list.
Well I will not give a big fedback, and will just say this: Good software to people having a little more than nothing experience in web-design/development, or anybody that want to create a "Dummy website" while working on a real design… .
Will not use it anymore too, not really interesting for a commercial product, but I like the interface design, xD.
*Oh, I just seen great bugs too… and the big limitations of the widgets (the widgets take really 1/4 of space on the page each, they resize the page area "in a grouped way", and then deform the page too).

WebSite X5 lets you design & create a web site, with hopefully as little fuss, bother, & design talent as possible. Move up the ladder, buy a more expensive version & you can do more, but the essence of the software stays the same. That's not good or bad, but hopefully might help someone decide in as few words as possible if WebSite X5 is worth their time & effort to look at.
At the high end a web page is just the face, a small part of what can seem a vast & complicated machinery including databases that does everything from assembling articles out of blocks of text, to keeping track of what visitors click so that face, the web page can be constantly adapted & changed, all automatically.
IOW you can sign up with Adobe's Creative Cloud, use Dreamweaver, & still find that you're only a somewhat small part of the way there. Web page design software is only, can only be part of the answer. That's not to make anyone feel insignificant, but to temper any claims from software companies. And I don't mean to target Incomedia saying that -- they seem completely honest, not making any exaggerations.
IMHO the weakness of WebSite X5 to be concerned about, is that it doesn't have the site management features you'd want/need if you started really growing your web presence. If/when you get serious it's all about time = money, & you'll want/need increased efficiency.
That said, nowadays you might not need much of a web site at all, building & maintaining your presence on-line via twitter etc. &/or contributing content, maintaining a presence on sites where someone else does all the heay lifting. A decent enough example of that is pro photographers finding that they get more attention, a larger following via Instagram than their own, personal web site ever managed. Google for "pro photographers instagram" [w/out quotes] & you get almost 11mil hits.

Without access to HTML to already created web page(s), you have to create new web page(s) from start if you want to make minor adjustments or changes. It is a waste of time to try to recode or recode after the page is already done. The crated HTML web pages can not be easily accessed or turned into HTMLS(5) and because of that, uninstalled.

Dual-boot here! A clean install & registration on both physical partitions (Win8.1.3 & Win 10) Excited to get a new build today (last one killed my 2nd monitor & sound card, but I got them both working again - new updates are NOT the same as GOOD updates, becareful). I used to create all my Web sites in MS Word, I haven't done one in quite awhile, looks promising. Does this program encompass HTTP/2 or is it the good-ole standby HTTP? Wouldn't it be a lot simpler to create websites online with a free site builder? Probably more mobile friendly as well. Can't judge this offer today as my skills are lacking in this department. I'm just offering up alternatives that may well be easier.

I expected something more professional like a reduced Dreamweaver without bells and whistlers, not a page-builder for "gals". What I got is a cumbersome application with a very unusual registration procedure that in the end I circumvented. Finally, I spend some minutes trying to take a look at the page HTML source and gave up. Uninstalled.

I wanted to hate this program. For one thing, it installs on C: without offering a different location. For SSD owners, that can be a no-no. And having built websites with plain HTML/CSS/JavaScript, with Drupal, and with Wordpress, I figured this would be a weak offering. But so far it impresses due to a good combination of features and ease. No program with this many capabilities is going to be trivial to use, but in my opinion it's a lot quicker to produce a good site using this than using Wordpress and the created sites are more flexible than you'd get with Weebly or Wix.
Besides the forced installation on C:, my other concern is that the web pages it creates are not completely standard and portable to other development tools. As Ian said above, you have to do some extra work to make the site generic enough to be editable in other (standard, free) tools.
Overall, I think it's worth a try for someone with the patience to learn and take advantage of its many features, despite the two issues I mentioned.

Alex, I'm certainly no expert here and rarely comment, but I believe it might be that the comment didn't pertain directly to an evaluation of the offered software product. I could be in error, but I've been under the assumption that this area of GAOTD is reserved solely for comments/evaluations on the give-away software, and that any other comments should be addressed in the forum areas. The program loaded and ran ok on Win7 64 bit. For the price it is a simple web site maker with a few good templates. My main problem with it is the demand for my personal information including name and address which they want to link to my email address. This is a major security issue since many people will realize this is not required to register any program but will place you on the mailing lists they sell to third parties. I do not recommend this or any program like it until these requirements are removed.

Hello. I used this software years ago and I must say that it is not so bad. For users who don't want spend a lot of time by learning to create web or somebody who is busy is this ideal. Creating simple web or blog with it is very simple and web can look good. Sure - create own graphics is better instead of using templates. But as time passed this solution became outdated and we have larger requirements for our website. Maybe 11.. version is better and will be updated frequently but now I haven't reason to try it. Free and Home version is very limited for my use.

I know HTML but I am no expert. I wanted to up grade my website to be mobile friendly. I tried a number of website writing packages.
One of those I tried was the demo of the Professional version.
++++I liked the layout, I liked the amount of Multimedia "add ons" and templates available in this version. .Yes I appreciate that this offer has much less but for a small website this should not be a problem. Besides there are a few resources on line to help you add the correct HTML to make your website "buzz". I liked the fact that there is plenty of resources on the web to help you to learn how to use this programme.
----However what I did not like was that this software (no matter which version you have) says it produces your website to a HTML5 standard but still allows you to use Flash. It is impossible to import any HTML files you may have unless you cut and paste sections into a document you set up. I was stuck as I have a website which needed updating. This was far from easy when using websitex5.
This programme unfortunately does not produce mobile friendly websites.
So all in all it may not be a website package you should be using right now.

I use Wordpress to create mobile friendly websites with one click. With Wordpress you get an almost unlimited number of available plugins - Google Maps, galleries, forums - simply everything for a modern website.
This software will create you a website, but not one that is robust or professional enough for a business. Good enough for a small club - sports club, for example. There is no scalability with this program - no website cache or help for the designer.

First, a well designed web site should not be device dependent. If it is, rewrite the HTML and test without CSS nor javascript.
Of course, to make your web site flow smoothly with any device, you should know more than basic CSS. Never use webkit extensions in the base CSS files. Why? Because (1) webkit extensions break the web standards (2) webkit extensions are a property of Apple and thus have severe limitations, and (3) you risk to break the design if your users do not use a standard web browser (e.g. Lynx).
Then, extend your CSS libraries with a dedicated CSS file per device (in this case, webkit extensions are a must for Apple but not for Android) or output using @media queries. Good tutorial: https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/media-queries-for-standard-devices/.
Of course if you don't know CSS, that' a problem ---which might be overcome by using some .js framework (jquery, Moo Tools, Ext JS...) but that also might reveal not less complicated for you. However, always have a fallback for users who disable javascript.
Most web developers don't know *** beeep *** about web semantics. What a pity, because HTML5 is a progress in this regard compared to HTML4 and XHTML. HTML5 is not reserved for multimedia.

If you're wanting your site to be mobile friendly, make sure you do NOT have the site as PDA compatible as this will prevent a number of CSS style sheets to not load correctly.
I'm by now means a HTML master but I've written a number of sites and have run across this issue in the past. I'm going to download this to check it out in the instance that it could potentially save me some time coding.

Installed and registered, having to read what we are told to do and fill in the form in order to get the license key. I have my own domain, as a hobby, with godaddy. I've been using the godaddy website builder for quite a while now and find it pretty user friendly. I've had a look at your template library and the free and paid templates are ok. A drag and drop website builder appears but it looks very complicated compared to godaddy or weebly, which are really user friendly. I think it's going to take me a while to get used to your's. I am not a pro like KARL, I don't know how to upload ftp yet or use this Website X5 builder to change or better my present website.
I hope this works.I don't think I'll be able to give you a better description today because what I've seen so far is very complicated.

Will sit this one out. Have enough trouble trying to surf the increasing number of other peoples' websites to surf. Would not want to create my own website. Too much effort and expense to buy the required hardware, run and maintain the website. Personally, I think if you seriously wish to create your own website, then a small expense to buy the suitable website creation software is negligible. Not every giveaway is suited to every person. Some giveaways are intended for people with specific hardware (iOS/Android devices, I think there was a barcode scanner one once, specific routers, etc.), while others address needs that not everyone has (I don't use a screensaver, and have three video converters I'm happy with). The software is neither good nor bad on the sole merit of it being useful to a particular person.

Without highly specific circumstances to do so, if you're hosting your own website on your own hardware, you're doing it wrong. Godaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost, Dreamhost, Justhost, 1&1, and the list goes on and on, and nearly all of them cost a whole $10/month or less.

Dreamweaver is $50/month. EZ Generator is $139. While these aren't outrageous prices, they're still more than a year of hosting cost. Technically, it's possible to hand code one's own website in a text editor, but the utility of this software is to streamline the process of doing so.

What do you mean "website crashes"? That makes no sense. Even if you're talking about data loss on a hosting provider, this program generates HTML and CSS, so it can be saved in a ZIP file somewhere, edited by hand, re-uploaded, backed up...it's just regular, editable data.

This is listed as a perpetual license. Even if it did expire, it's possible to upload the data again from a backup. It's also possible to edit the content using other web design software.
I'm not convinced that this is an amazing piece of web design software, but none of the objections raised here seem to apply, aside from "I wouldn't use it".

Nice and well made. You don't need to know HTML, there is a flat learning curve, but it is painting by numbers. This program helps you to create something with predefined templates, but it depends on YOUR design skills, if the finished project looks like you wanted to have it.
A good base for a quick web project - test it and have fun!
