Sorry, but the program is worthless. No matter what function I use, all the pages are always blank. The program is a total failure.

Why no one has suggested Advanced pdf utilities free, some time back Giovanni suggested. This is an excellent one, which can split, merge, remove passwords etc and does things in a jiffy.

Great software. This is just what I've been looking for as I frequently have to merge pdf files. Did a test on merging four documents with a total of 18 pages and it worked with one mouse click and did a perfect merge. Keeper and thanks to Ice Cream and GAOTD.

Installed, registered, opened and performed like a dream.I segmented two documents into single pages and then pulled in the pages I wanted for new document and Hey, worked just as you would expect. Pages look exactly like old document and merged in the order they were loaded.

This is a keeper for me.

Thank You GOTD and Icecreamapps.

Saturated? Realy? With a freeware products? Really?

In the comments above you can count less then 10 free products, and- to be honest- there is some bad comments about all of them...

Maybe the today's giveaway is not perfect, but IMHO it is doing it's work good.

And- thanks of the GOTD & of the developers- today we had a chance to get it for free.

Thumb up from me.

Downloaded, installed, registered, opened and performed perfectly. Tested by merging front-of-doc (image) with back-of-doc (image). Worked instantly and perfectly. After merge, presented button to open folder (that I designated). Could not be easier or perform better.

Also loaded 20 page doc, previewed numbered pages, selected range and saved in selected folder. Then merged pages 13 & 20. Perfect results!

Easily downloaded and installed and registered. Tested on an 18-page PDF that I received and wanted to split. Specified range of pages to be split, e.g., 1-7 and 8-18. Worked quickly and successfully, and even allowed me to see, in the Preview pane, a couple of pages that Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro were unable to display because of a font they couldn't recognize. (My Reader is version 11.0.10, which I probably need to update.)

I had to split a pdf file this morning and used my usual amateurish method of printing the required pages to Primopdf. I have tested this program to compare the efficiency of using an appropriate tool for the job. I needed to extract 13 ranges as follows: http://prntscr.com/6rlerk The program performed the task efficiently and so will be maintained for the future. Thumbs up!

Is there any free software out there to highlight PDF paragraphs in different colors?

Reply   |   Comment by Exynika  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

I've seen something like that advertised more than once, so I think it is available, but unfortunately I've never paid enough attention so can't name any apps. That said, the new Adobe Reader DC *might* work for you, which is why I'm posting.
https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/products/pdf-reader.html

From the FAQ: " What commenting tools are available in Acrobat Reader DC?

Reader makes it easy to annotate PDF documents. With Reader on your desktop, you can: annotate PDFs using sticky notes; type text directly onto the page; highlight, underline, or use strikethrough tools; and draw on the screen with the freehand drawing tool. The same commenting tools are also available on Adobe Acrobat DC for mobile."

The same by me. If you have installed the program as administrator you have to register it as administrator and as user too. Now both versions are PRO and the program remember your changes.

Thanks to Icecream Apps & GOTD.
Easily installed and activated.
Tested it.
Result: Very Good
It supports drag and drop.
Does what it says for split and merge.
You can choose and fix output folder for Split process.
You can choose output folder for Merge process BUT it will not remember the change.
When you next use the software, it will revert to default of sending Merged output to your desktop.

The SW developer claims the program will work with password-protected documents as well. Let's test.

Installed, tried to split a three-page password-protected PDF document - got three empty pages.

Uninstalled. :(

I installed and used the free version of this software some months ago. I'm not sure what's the difference between the free and Pro but in my case the free version worked fine. I needed to merge some pdf files and it did the job without any problem. I also like the program interface. Thank you guys!

Clearly, today's developer has never heard of the highly successful freeware:

https://www.pdfill.com/pdf_tools_free.html

Had it done so, I'm at a loss to understand why it is seeking to market a $20 alternative.

Was so surprised when I saw what was offered considering it's limited functionality compared to Pdfill’s free program that I thought I must try it.
At the price offered I thought it would be much simpler in its use by possibly being able to mark the pages in the preview window or at least some improvement.
Preview window cannot be resized and frankly is too small, plus it offers no help in selecting the pages that the functions will be performed on.
Why anyone bothered to produce this program is beyond my comprehension, uninstalled!

When it comes to merging/splitting PDFill is nothing compared to todays giveaway. PDFill has no preview at all. I tried PDFill some time ago and threw it away. This one will stay. Yes, the preview window is small but - guess what - it's resizeable. Yes it has no zoom but you don't edit the pages, only sort them in/out. Again, thanks to GAotD and to IceCream.

On their Homesite it say's
"Meet Icecream PDF Split&Merge, a free application that does exactly what it says; enables you split and merge PDF files quickly and easily. You can split documents into single page files, get rid of specific pages, and more using the various splitting modes that the tool offers. Merge or split any PDF file without page quantity limitations and even work with password-protected files. The software also comes with a built-in PDF reader for more convenience. Combine PDF files in a hassle free way."

I can't find anything about a PRO version?
What's the difference between this version and the PRO?

Sorry Dude. But I do have to agree with Karl on this one. I know he didn't recommend any alternatives but I personally use (and recommend) Sumatra PDF and it works great. And it's "FREE". No PRO version (that I know of and I have checked) but it really does what it says it does. And again it's "Free". But it really does work GREAT.

Free SumatraPDF edits PDF files? deletes or merges pages? Sorry you're totally wrong. SumatraPDF only reads/displays PDFs.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

A (Russian?) company without name&address: "Our Company
Icecream Apps is a freeware developer. Our mission is to provide millions of users all over the world with great and still free analogues to the popular paid applications for Windows systems (Mac versions will be available pretty soon too). We do our best to develop free programs of a high quality.
"

Upon start a non resizable modern UI opens, you can add choose between split or merge a PDF file - and here the problems starts. Did somebody really test this software? Surely not.

Since splitting in single pages is a common task by many other products, I thought, that deleting pages is a more complex problem...

I opened a PDF for deleting certain pages. A small non resizable preview window opens, the page number is only shown on the bottom of each page, should be shown always.

Deleting and merging worked as expected. A simple tool, a "professional" version? No.

A simple and small tool. You can install it, if you need deleting or merging a PDF with setting a password (working).

Uninstall via reboot. No need of this.

Reply   |   Comment by Karl  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+89)

Well it surely looks simple and small, it can and must be improved (quickly) here and there, it even has at least one bug - but it's professional enough for me. It surely is more comfortable and more speedy than other PDF splitting-merging software that I used to use, both free and paid. Convenient preview, intuitive enough user interface. Took 5 minutes to go over one PDF file (60 mB, a newspaper) page by page, delete pesky ads and sports bulls@#t... voilà, new, clean 22 mB file. Checked it out, too: looks good (other splitters-mergers sometimes end up with unreadable PDFs). Thanks a lot to Icecream and GAotD!

Karl,

I must disagree with you on this. This little tool looks great, more like a window 8 app, than throwback of windows 98/xp legacy software. I did some pdf split and it was very quick and gave a pretty good results. The key aspect that I find missing in some other 'free' softwares is ability to group the split rather than creating a single page pdf split. I agree that this is a saturated software field and there are great alternatives out there. But this tool competes pretty well with those, even the free version is pretty good. Just my two cents!
