Just a quick note to say that the registration is not being accepted. Does anyone have any ideas? I know this is a negative- just don't bother judging it.

If you held a gun to my head, I would not do such operations whilst Windows is running

This needs a bootable CD
Why doesn't it have one ?

"C drive running out of space?" "100% safe for resizing, redistributing disk space "

I don't understand how partitioning a drive that is almost full will do anything or you?

Mostly full is mostly full, right?

Software is breeze like army swiss knife, it would have been better if bootable medium is provided and option to convert dynamic to basic hdd will be welcome along with ability to align partitions, anyway thanks fo this nice piece of software.

I use Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Pro (I got it as a giveaway). It is very useful and portable. The one main thing it did for me was close up the 2 MB gaps between partitions that were left behind by EaseUS Partition Master Pro. It also properly aligned my partitions on advanced format drives (I am using Windows XP Pro).

#4: I think the thumbs up/down voting is primarily a vote on whether they like the choice of software being given away that day, rather than how good it is.

Obviously, some people vote on its quality that way, but there's often a wide discrepancy between the votes and the comments, which is why I think the voting is simply a popularity contest and not a reliable indication of the software's quality.

I always put much more faith in the comments than on the votes.

GParted runs on ANY PC - without windows - without need for any anti-virus, it never "phones home," and it works 100% of the time.

GParted is FREE, developed by people who care about people, and who don't like windows-induced virus / spyware problems.

@1 Easeus does nothing.

It does not resize partitions what-so-ever.

I tried AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition v5.5.

It worked flawlessly when I needed to add 100 gb to my drive.

If you don't want software then use windows to resize partitions vista and higher.

Control Panel > Control Panel >Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management, then select drive, highlight, right click and use a tool from the drop down menu, shrink, extend, format etcetera.

That's what Easeus does, except it gives you a G.U.I. (general user interface) because of laziness.

Gparted (#15 above) is incorporated into "Parted Magic" which is a great Linux based system you can run live from a disk. It can also be used to recover/backup files from a windows c drive easily. Partitioning is a breeze as well as safe with it, and over the years has become my absolute favorite program(s)/package to save and rescue everything after a serious windows crash. It's especially valuable if win xp/7/8 will not boot and a re-install becomes the only alternative.

Works on my machine just fine, however sad to say there is not much money to be made in partitioning software these days because of the large number of free alternatives. My opinion to I.M. is make this an attractive freebie that has an added and useful functionality that the other part-softs don't have to attract potentiial customers to your site. Focus your coding into other upcoming niche areas for good profit margins while allowing your free offerings stand as a quality sample of your product line. Customers want that unique feature that allows added value and functionality with ease of use that no other competitor offers.

I used this the last time it was offered. It was easy to use and understand.I have re-sized my drive twice. It recognized each drive immediately.I have not had ANY issues with it.

I see the majority of comments are bad and mostly links to other programs that do the same thing. These people are employees of those companies who have similar or like programs!

They are constantly on here mostly posting negative reviews of what ever is offered. They are TROLLS! Ignore them.

#13 @TK-M -- I've been getting software from GOTD and Game GOTD for years and I've never gotten anything I didn't ask for (except for programs that didn't work as expected ;-)

BTW, I've found Malwarebytes to be particularly effective in both preventing and getting rid of PUPs.

This change in internet registry is usually the program "phoning home" to say it has been installed somewhere, to check for updates, or simply because the program that was downloaded is only a stub and it needs to download the latest version of the actual program from the website.

HOWEVER, in this case, I would be suspicious that it was part of the "Software Informer". That name could cover anything from being what checks for updates automatically for the program, to showing you advertising every time you use the program. Remember that all programs are checked by GAOTD for viruses, but what about PUPs? (Potentially Unwanted Programs).

It would seem to be relatively harmless, but I also do not like tricks like that, nor programs that show you advertising whenever you run it, especially when you have paid for the program and it is still showing you advertising.

Great post, really helpful links particularly to those like myself who want to continue using XP in preference to later versions of the OS.
The first link is a must in my opinion, the second for those who want to see the inner workings of that Microsoft monstrosity the registry.

Never had problems in modifying or creating partitions, but I only use programs that are highly regarded over a reasonable period of time, messing around with your computer at such a basic system level should always be done with caution.

First of all, not every warning is a real thread. Second (it's true!), too much warnings confuses people and they oversee the real thread. That said, I use a firewall with HIPS : PrivateFirewall 7.0.3.0. IMHO the best free firewall with a strong HIPS.

In the case above, I see no reason, why a "partition resizer" wants to play with my Internet Explorer settings. Not a single reason.

And because we discuss here security questions. I strongly advise a rather unknown software : CryptoPrevent from FoolishIT.com. Something one should have. The free version is sufficient.

To the "negative" side - some programs cannot be installed or run, due to my security setting. When I write in my comment : could not start, it may well be, that my security settings doesn't allow a software to run. Mainly due to the reason, that the software wants to modify protected registry areas, where they don't have anything to do.

Even when I run a virtual system, I keep my basic security settings.

And another freeware, but for the experienced user - one of the best:

MJ registry watcher from Mark Jacobs' Free 32-bit Windows Software. Don't use it, if you are not familiar with the registry. You'll get crazy. LOL.

Well, this was more as I wanted to answer. But security becomes a major issue each year.

Greeting from Germany
Karl

#2 Karl, Key Path: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content
A potential threat to network traffic interception or injection has been detected."

This sort of thing happens alot. When I click "It's OK to install" my software, it usually bypasses all the security and I don't see the things you have noted. What are you running that caught the reg edit?

Does what it claims but MACRORIT DISK PARTITION can do the same and even more for FREE (and it's also PORTABLE):

http://macrorit.com/partition-magic-manager/free-edition.html

As you can see it can extend and even align system partition without REBOOT and, unlike Aomei Partition Assistant FREE EDITION, it's even able to wipe free/unallocated space with no hassle!!

All advanced features usually provided by commercial products.

There is really no need for a third-party partitioner for Windows 7 or later. The Windows Disk Manager is entirely sufficient and has one enormous advantage over any other product: It is almost guaranteed not to destroy the disk.

I have come upon quite a few cases where Windows became unbootable after using a third-party product to resize the system partition.

Don't make that mistake: If you can't do it with the Windows Disk Manager, don't force the issue by using another product that can do it "better" or "magically". And always remember to backup the entire disk before doing any partition work, just in case.

Installed on Win 8.1 64 Bit w/o problems.
First Problem: Checked my Hard Disk with 5 formatted and two non-formatted partitions, plus a non-allocated space section.
As the window cannot be expanded to full screen I was not able to read the details of the narrow unformatted partitions. Right click options do not open the sections ('not formatted' error).

Installed fine, looks good and is only showing ONE of my THREE HDDs - why ? Its sowing the two USB flash drives I have in, but not a 2tb and 4tb HD that should be showing up. It has HDD 1 (an SSD) and then "5" !!! But nothing in between !

I see there are 21 thumbs down. Never used it but the features of this software is pretty interesting.

Would anybody thumbing it down kindly care to state the reason (how it had affected etc)? I have to increase the size of C drive taking the space from another unused partition on a machine with Vista urgently. Plz post.

Thanks in advance.

Installed fine W8.1 x64. Resized a partition without problems.

Downside, no option to create a bootable CD. Other Free Partition managers can do more and create bootable CD's Eg: AOMEI Partition Assistant

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.2 Pro system.

A company without name and address and some special goal...
By hoping to create magic on disks, we also hope this could bring magic to our own life by creating useful program that we can develote our lifetime on this.

Let's see if the magic works.

We had hat IM-Magic Partition Resizer Pro 2013 on December 5th, 2013. Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/partition-resizer-pro-2013/

Upon start a funny moving splash screen lets you install a "software informer", if you like...

Denying it loads the disks and shows a simple non resizable screen with the version 2.1.1- Professional edition.

Hmmm, the IM-magic.exe is still the old version 1.1.0 from November 2013. The only new thing is the moving yellow splash screen resizer.exe from August 20th, 2014. This rotating thing wants to write things in the the registry, which my security setting deny:

Key Path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content

A potential threat to network traffic interception or injection has been detected.

After that, the old partition resizer from 2013 is called.

Hmm... no comment.

I did not test, whether the partition resizing or the copy is working. I don't like such tricks...

Uninstalled via reboot.

I use "EASEUS Partition Master Free Edition" which is really an efficient and effective partition tool.

Previously I tried 'Aomei Partition Assistant Lite Edition' which is also impressive .
