"COUGH" "COUGH"... Umm yea, an outdated working driver will cause your system to....OH STOP IT! If your system runs fine with the drivers today, it will run fine with those tomorrow. Are their potential performance enhancements for certain ones... maybe/yes. But, how much gain will you see from them in real world performance.... very little.

I mean you pretty much have VGA driver (they're typically AMD or NVIDIA, Intel) depending upon what you may do, this driver may be the biggest of them all. Network driver updates...sometimes huge (depending upon brand/model) Other than that, for most issues not really worth it, let alone using a single program to perform the task. Typically, these types of programs get it wrong at times and cause serious problems with users.

Now, if they can get a driver that can make a hard drive actually perform faster than it is labeled... oh wait, that can't be...that's the biggest, single performance hold back in any of today's computers. SSD are a huge improvement there. Again not a driver!

Installed ok. Ran a scan and it identified several out of date drivers, after a couple of large whiskies I allowed it to update the sound drivers after it had finished I noticed that I could now hear interference in my headphones when the hard drive was spinning. Went to sound icon in control panel and after navigating to the drivers tab (via properties) was able to rollback to the original (2010) drivers.
It seems that the latest drivers are not always the best. I have an Acer Aspire 5732z laptop.

I thought I'd try this again, after last time's abortive attempt. This time - took an age - it opened up showing 'Expired'. And is still trying to get past 14% scan after ten minutes.
WAIT! It's finished scanning and now shows 3 drivers out of date. On a machine that age it should've found a dozen at least.
Still, it's working and has given me a sense of achievement which is quite rare.I'll keep it.

I had tried this before, and it caused system instability, after it tried to install an incorrect video driver.

Good alternative - SlimDrivers

I bought and used an earlier version of this product and was not happy with the product (installed drivers in German, etc.). I uninstalled and got my money back.

Since then I've periodically tried the later releases of this product (the free versions). The product DB has been improved; however I've noticed that even if I set it so this doesn't run at boot, the product still runs. The disk scan can take quite a while and can significantly increase the start up time.

I've also got one system where I can't run chkdsk on start up any more (it terminated thinking there is a key pressed). I strongly suspect there is a driver at issue which was installed from this product (but to be fair, I can't prove this). My point is to always create a restore point before doing anything with the drivers.

Be careful about the reviews on this one. It seems reviews of this software being Brilliant, or finding unknown devices without mention of the specific OS or devices found is NOT useful. My point is that there seem to be some pretty easy to spot, fake reviews on this Driver Booster software, here at GOTD. If it is useful to you, tell us how with some useful detail. Thanks.

Easy install. Found 6 out-of-date drivers listed as "worst."
Clicked install button and within one minute downloaded and installed all six new drivers including ATI video driver for ATI 5800 video card (256 mb)
Worked great and just as advertised.
Definitely a keeper for me.

In my experience, most of these automatic driver finders don't work well. All they can do is look for a file on the internet that has a later date than your current driver file.

And that may not be the correct file for you. It could be for a different operating system. Or it could be in a different language. Or it could be a file that is actually OLDER than what you already have, inside an archive that happens to be dated later.

Ran Drive Booster on Win7-64HE but did not have the same pleasant experience as others.

After a reboot and troubleshooting the following 2 errors showed up

1. "802.11n Wireless Lan Card is experiencing driver or hardware-related problems".

2. "The Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller adapter is experiencing driver or hardware-related problems".

This program is not for the faint-of-heart. Drive Booster may work for others but not on my PC. It's very important when making any changes to your system, major or otherwise, to always do a complete system backup and save yourself hours of headaches. I was able to restore my system back in less than a hr.

@IObit.COM or anybody else

I remember a comment about some giveaway driver updater which downloaded drivers from a "non respectible" source. Does Driver Booster Pro 1.5 download from the manufacturers' homepages?
Thanks in advance.

Funny thing.

I installed this on an old and slow VIA box running Windows7 H/Prem.
It found that the Bus Master IDE Controller - 5324 version 7.0.7000.294 was classed as "worst".

So it downloaded a version and installed it (that took an hour).

When I rebooted the box and re-ran Driver Booster, all the drivers showed up as "perfect" and it congratulated me.
When I looked, the Bus Master IDE Controller that the software had taken an hour to reinstall and presumably "boost", was exactly the same version as the original one: same datestamp - everything.
Only now it was listed as "perfect" (but the box is still just as slow).
Remarkable!

Worked good for me. Installed on my notebook. Had a lot unknown devices and devices without installed drivers. Driver Booster installed drivers for almost all of them. Now shows all drivers are up to date even windows update wants to install some other drivers.
After using driver booster windows update installed the driver for the last unknown device.
Also updated not correct working drivers i installed from the manufacturer homepage and now every<thing is working fine. Before i could not adjust display brightness with the special keys and even within windows.

For someone who has no clue what to do when it comes to updating drivers, I'm hoping this will be a godsend - I tried doing a search for how to update drivers and got a load of technical jargon that I couldn't understand and gave up... fingers Xed

If you are having a hard time finding how to register (like I was); In the upper left corner where it says ‘Drive Booster Free’, click on the ‘Free’ and a registration window will open. Input your code and the ‘Free’ will turn to ‘Pro’.

An update to my comment from:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/driver-booster-pro-1-5/

Just for testing. Today I installed the "Driver Booster" on a brand new Win 8.1.2 Pro system which has been installed on a new computer last week - and updated to the latest bits. Ain't Nobody Fresher.

Driver Booster claims 3 outdated drives, one yellow flagged : BAD (the video driver) and two of them red flagged : WORST. The High-Definition Audio Driver from Realtek and the Realtek controler family PCIe GBE...

Last time there was a question, where to get the original Realtek driver. Here :

http://www.realtek.com.tw/default.aspx

Uninstalled via reboot. On this system runs Toolwiz TimeFreeze.
