Win PDF Editor is a Windows PDF editing software product that lets you modify and edit PDF documents: adding text, inserting images, removing unwanted content, drawing lines and rotating PDF pages. If you write text in PDF, you can change the text font, size, color and move it anywhere you want on the page.

After inserting an image into a PDF document, you can resize the image and move it. If you find some words or images that need to be removed, simply use the eraser tool to erase. Better than other PDF Reader applications, Win PDF Editor can permanently save the edited PDF content changes in PDF. New version fixed the bold text bug.

Hello, all.
I'm always surprised at what some "software" companies try to pawn off on an unsuspecting public.
All the same, there are companies, groups, & individuals that are willing to GIVE away some pretty good software.
I'm using Foxit Reader since 2010,
& so far it can do almost everything I need.
I have a number of other PDF programs,
but Foxit lets me annotate my PDFs,
& the other programs let me convert to text,
where I can edit them if need be.
And as mentioned by "NYB" at the the #1. comment,
LibreOffice is pretty good w/ PDFs, too.
Hopefully helpful.

Have a GREAT day, Neighbors!

Thanks for the detailed informed comments.
This appears to just be an annotator, but saying that I can think of times when that would be handy.
Some of you would know about the excellent free PDF-Xchange viewer, that also allows annotation.
www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer
However there are some PDF's (eg some Manuals) that do not allow annotation. If I am studying how to use my PVR, etc, I often like to type a wee note, or do a highlight.
I don't readily have one of those PDfs at hand, but I will install today's giveaway in the hope that it can annotate such PDFs

Rob

Karl basically decided for all of us, this software is worthless.
Having Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium, I can pay a monthly fee which works better for myself being on fixed income and I can use online services to convert files between PDF, Doc files Txt or other online as part of the service.
And I sure would not get a ratio of 4 MB to 8 gigs conversion going from one to the other.
480 pages of doc files?? You would be printing and changing cartridges throughout the day; all day. Sorry GOTD, not worth even the 5 seconds it takes to download the program.

It will not open any of my PDF files. It says that they are all encrypted. Nonsense. Uninstalled.

to lemonadesoda regarding general method “Uninstalled via reboot.”.

sometimes when you uninstall software you will have to reboot to remove registry entries or other places where the particular program has embedded itself.
You usually get a message something like "you must reboot to continue the uninstall"

this program gets a thumb down. I tried to write an extra few sentences to my pdf file and it put it vertically instead of horizontal. I already was worried about a china company with no name and address as most hacking comes from china and Russia. I uninstalled and rebooted.

@lemonadesoda. I will attempt to explain if Karl doesn't explain in time for you. He is busy reviewing this stuff for us.

"SandBoxing" is what he uses. Just like when you were little playing in the sandbox outside, you can rake the sand box over and erase whatever castles and roads you had built in the sand.

There is a program (Utility) called SANDBOXIE (Sp?) which allows you to play with a new program in it. If it behaves, then you can install it OUTSIDE the Sandbox into your system to keep. If it misbehaves, then you can reboot your system and "rake over the sand" and it's gone just like your castles and roads in your sandbox outside when you were little. The program that you "try on for size" cannot get out of the sandbox. Reboot and it's gone.

Hope this helps.

of course, I install everything on a virtual system. With a reboot, I return to the unchanged original system, without worrying about bad drivers, destroyed registry or unwanted programs. Google "Toolwiz Time Freeze" or "Faronics Deep Freeze" or use Sandboxie... HTH

As noted by NYB, LibreOffice will open and save PDF files. Just tried it with quite a complicated file and it opened it no problem and allowed editing of every part of it. Libre is as good or much better than any other program I have seen.

To Karl, Giovanni and other experts - I have just now installed Win 7 Pro 64-bit and I still use Office 2003 (but will one day upgrade to Office 2007 or higher). SO, what would be a free replacement for Adobe Acrobat? Something that would let me "print" to pdf and then do some basic things with the pdf (like add text boxes)? And, ideally, would also have some OCR so I could copy from a pdf and paste into Word?

I still have an Adobe Acrobat 5 disk but that's REALLY old and it doesn't like Win 7 (or vice versa). What would be a good free match for Adobe Acrobat XI?

Many thanks from this ultra-cheap ultra-noob.

While possessing Acrobat 5.0, 6.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0, there are times when that program doesn't play well with PDFs created with other programs/systems. Therefore having an alternative, especially good freeware, is a necessity. And, while having a couple other off brand PDF freeware programs, I am downloading this offering. The non-Adobe products often allow editing, changing, shortening, lengthening or highlighting more easily; and, they usually have more friendly user interfaces. Adobe, like Microsoft, is blind to logical operation and generally has no user sympathy for ease of use. Any program that needs to create new nouns or meanings to describe its operation or requires years of schooling to fully operate is flawed from the onset.

Code security is always an issue with freeware off brands; therefore the choice of machines on which to install is worth ample consideration. The safer machine never sees the Internet.

Other than the fact that 24 hours for a previously unannounced software is not ample time to evaluate, form an opinion, script a reliable review and post it, non-video and non-audio offerings are graciously and enthusiastically accepted.

In general, the companies that provide licenses and downloads here for their products here should be cognizant of three factors,
1. If you really want to sell a newbie your software, a non-current version and/or light version is should always be readily available to users in order to develop a dependency on your software by potential new user/purchasers. Reinstall, subsequent re-download(s), and password recovery should be standard operating procedure. Note: Because Adobe provided to me 5.0 Standard gratis, they eventually sold numerous versions to me and three versions of Photoshop and three Light Shops. Had this not been the case, I would, most likely, be in Giovanni's boat consistently seeking the next best "free" freeware.
2. Annual licenses may seem appealing to authors and vendors, but subscriptions, like apartment rent, is generally appalling to users. Under promise, over deliver and provide excellence in service and you'll sell more than you can handle. The cold, unfriendly, uncaring attitude of Intuit, Adobe, Microsoft, Apple can be found everywhere. Be different; be better. It is not that hard to be real, it is refreshing and it is rewarding inside and in the bank.

3. Realize OS's are unstable, intrusions are inevitable, and hardware fails. Be willing to work with individuals to whom you provided freeware in the past; upon adequate verification, assist them in returning to their pre-failure status by re-supplying that which you already gave. Or, in a superior gesture, the current light/free version. Most, albeit not all, will be customers for life.

Generally, to all companies: Just because you fixed bugs or cleaned up an interface, you have not made a new version. You have a duty to supply software without bugs, so the fixed product is really the older issue/version--NOT A NEW ONE. Window dressing (interface workings) does not make a new product; stop lying to us and yourself. Absent a major rewrite, a multitude (more than 3) of improvement, ample inclusion of other processes, or an entirely new program built from scratch, new versions are a con. Don't insult your mother and us by pawning them off as "new" or "necessary" or "different" or "the latest". Warmed-up chicken soup is yesterday's broth. Everyone is wise to that flawed thinking.

Generally, to GAOD users: Open source, open source, open source. This is quality software that does not lock you into an expensive cage at the mercy of greedy corporate overlords who don't give a damned about you, other people, computers nor responsible provisioning. Many (Adobe, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, etc; see Snowden fallout) are in bed with the most devious institution on the planet: the US Federal government (the US fed.gov is currently writing legislation to control the Internet, restrict access, tax it and monitor content. It believes its law to be universal. If you only understood the extent of its transgressions.) That in-bed fact alone is ample reason to avoid these companies, their services and their software.

@Karl:

Spot on review: does nothing I want or need. I too converted a PDF to DOC and got a similar result.

I was hoping it would allow a simpler "fill-in-the-blanks" experience for PDF, but www.pdfescape.com is a MUCH easier solution. (For me)

This is not a PDF editor. It is a PDF annotator, which means you can make notations/additions and edit those additions, but you cannot edit the original document text.

Thanks to PDFZilla and GOTD.

Uninstalled the previous GOTD Version 2.0.4 before installing this.

Do not click on Buy/Purchase
Click on any of the two big icons (e.g. Edit PDF) when you start.
When the software opens click on About in the main menu.
Choose "Register" from scroll down list.
Paste you serial number code.
Restart the software.

It does not actually edit anything.
You can easily see that in the Text View of any PDF reader.

What it does is create an overlay to give you a graphic illusion that something has been edited.

Nevertheless, it is fun. Can be useful in some situations.
For example when you wish to highlight a particular passage in a long winded PDF document with a red line rectangular box.
So that you read that passage and skip the rest.

Installed and registered without problems and on opening looked very much like the previous download offered here.
The editing part of this program has proved useful in the past for myself in cleaning up and adding text to a form.
This was the case when a form had been scanned to PDF and I needed to add data and correct some text; the quality was not up to a high enough standard to use my preferred method of conversion, converting to image and doing an OCR on it and then printing the hardcopy they required, this editor was the only means I could find of completing the task.
I've pretty well given up with converters and have found by far the best way in my experience is to convert to image and then OCR the image.
LibreOffice will, as stated, import PDF files and can sometimes be very accurate but as with all PDF files it varies from file to file depending upon the internal structure.

After reading the comments from #3 Karl and viewing his images of the results I think I'll give this a miss. Just one question ... Why is everyone obsessed about company names and addresses or lack of?

Thanks Karl saved me a bit of time :)

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.2 Pro 64 bit system.

A (Chinese) company without name and address, the splash screen signed as Xi’an Zhihengyinwu Co., Ltd.

Upon start a small splash screen lets you choose between "editing" PDF and "converting" PDF files.

Because this is no "real PDF" software it cannot delete or edit text. It places an image with text or blank(=deleted) over the original pdf page. With another PDF editor you can always read the original text under the added image - if the PDF page is editable and no image itself....

Think about : with this software you do not "delete" PDF content!

The second choice on the splash screen lets you "convert" PDF files.

This is done with the modules pdftohtml.exe (2006, August 8) and pdftotext.exe (2007, November 11).

Conversion of PDF does not mean OCR, it has no OCR engine installed, but a rough conversion with these above mentioned often used external programs - which do work on only very simple PDF structures - and produce garbage in other cases.

A very simple program gives you the illusion, you can really change text or delete text in a PDF file. What you can is : you can add an imaage, draw lines or symbols...

I add my comment to the previous GAOTD, because it uses the same routines :

I started with the PDF to WORD conversion. The output format is .doc and not .docx. The default output folder is C:\output, simply no! The only setting in this window is sound reminder on/off.

The first test produced a nearly unreadable doc file, with corrupted formatting. The second test failed in another way :

http://www.xup.to/dl,10397721/test1.jpg/
http://www.xup.to/dl,98568361/test2.jpg/

May work on some simple PDF files. Failed on my tests. Unusable.(*)

Uninstalled via reboot.

(*) in a new test today, it did finish a conversion to .DOC with a 8.1 GB (GIGABYTE!!!) .doc file from a 4,5 MB (Megabyte) PDF file (text only) with 430 pages. Nonsense!

Of course, you know LibreOffice Writer opens and saves PDF natively.
