Hello everyone,

Now there is a newer version 1.7.0.5 of this software available, you can update it for free and some issues mentioned above have already been fixed in this latest version.

Regarding the grey-out registration issue, please kindly note that's because you've registered it before and you will only have to update it to the newer version now.

Thank you and we are always here to help!

You have to put in your e-mail to get the code (for those wondering).

A very good Blu-ray playing program that has played all but a few commercial Blu-rays that I have tried playing with it. It does have a flaw, however. It ALWAYS starts playing subtitles when you start playing a movie (and sometimes in a language other than the default, for some reason). There is no option to permanently turn off subtitles. You have to turn them off each and every time you play a movie. If you don't always want to see subtitles when you play a movie, this is a nuisance.

Also, my computer crashed twice when I was playing a Blu-ray with this program. I am 99% sure that it was an issue with my CPU or video card being overloaded by the hardware acceleration, because I have never had the problem since I turned off hardware acceleration in Leawo Blu-ray Player. I am not sure if the issue was the fault of Leawo Blu-ray computer or my computer.

So two thumbs up, as long as you don't mind switching off the subtitles each time you play a movie, and are careful to turn off hardware acceleration (unlike subtitles, hardware acceleration stays off permanently when you disable it).

If the Leawo team is viewing this review, I recommend that you fix the subtitle problem in future releases, and look into the hardware acceleration problem.

How to show the playback bar during full screen? Its troublesome to back out of fullscreen just to scroll the playback.

Windows XP Media: After struggling through the very difficult registration process, I finally got it registered. Great. It can't find my Bluray drive or the disk sitting in that. How pointless.

Windows version: Overall it works O.K. , went to Leawo site after install and got the bug fix update 1.7.0.5 vs the GOTD install 1.7.0.0 and takes about 50Mb off the 1.5.0.0 version and adds back about 10Mb; yes have to fix the file associations later, and maybe disable that annoying yytools.

I hate it when a software grabs all my files and associates them to itself. Leawo did it last time and I had to use regedit to fix the stupid thing. I was hoping it wouldn't happen this time but it did. Now I have to regedit the thing again. Shouldn't have to. Unless this software is storing your media selections and selling the data to other third partys. Watching ones media watching habits and reporting back to mother.

This is a VERY good blu ray player. I got it here last time and will definitely upgrade. Side note: WHY on earth are people posting links to blu ray RIPPERS as an "alternative" when this is a blu ray PLAYER? Note to all: I do not know of "any" FREE blu ray players. So there is NO free alternative! Get this while you can.

The software craps up the whole registry with more than a hundred entries, launches a service that forces you to change file extension associations, adds itself to startup.
All this you should remove manually after "deinstall".
The product like this do not have to exist.
Removed

One of the things I hate about software is for it to manipulate my system without telling me. Even more I hate it that when software manipulates my system there is no way to overcome this manipulation. Previous versions of this software insisted on being my default player. I always refused to let it dictate what would be my default player. I emailed Leawo asking how to turn off this property. I had no reply. I emailed them again. Still after several months I got no reply. This version has not fixed that problem. Still they are now allowing individuals to enter a contest by telling them what can be done to improve their software. I have an idea that I will submit to them.

I did try the software and it worked on several files and the only disk I tried. So if letting software companies decide how your computer should be set up doesn't bother you, then you might as well give it a try.

This was given away by GotD months ago and the biggest problem with this Blu-ray player program is that you cannot enable Intel Quick Sync, DXVA, or CUVID decoding if you have a GPU that can offload decoding from the CPU to the GPU because the option doesn't exist. I have an older CPU with a higher end GPU that software rendering is just too slow. I enable similar GPU decoding options say in DVDFab Media Player (also given away at some point last year here) or VLC Media Player and Blu-rays play nicely compared to having the options disabled.

Easy install and registration to Windows 7 x64.
Disks play perfectly and UI is fine, large enough to be clear and uncluttered. Typical Leawo stuff!

During the first use WinPatrol popped up asking 'allow or not' for "Leawo common service yytool64.exe"

Anyone know what yytool64.exe is, and if it should be allowed to run?

Thanks to Leawo and GAOD for this keeper.

Installed with no problem but cannot register. I had the old version and the registration email with link as well. Upon submission of email address (per comment #7), I received a message that "This mail is already registered for the code. please check your boxes for the registration code." My old email with link re-downloads, but still cannot register. Registration is grayed on. What next?

I have gone to the site & got my registration code - but when I go to input the code into the program - the link "Active program - Register" is 'greyed out' and nothing happens when clicked (Is this a problem?) #2 I downloaded & installed ver 1.4 and Activated - is this why we do not need to activate again? Last - I have 2 suggestions - one: my OLD standby - I REALLY want to see WORD-type menus when I use a program (It took me nearly 5 minutes to find the "Options" button (I HATE hide-&-seek) and two: have they solved the issue of using a mouse to navigate a Blu-Ray - I KNOW that Power(whatever) does not allow - (That is almost as useless as was Apple (in 1980) with their "single-sided floppy disks" that is why I went to IBM (They made a reader that read both sides without removing the disk everytime - that's why I called them the "dumbest smart-people I never met" (and I did end up meeting most of them later anyway. Think MOUSE thanks GOTD & LEAWO for today's program.

It uses a metro interface to make it appear more Windows 8 compatible.

It seems capable of handling multiple disks. Each appears as a metro icon to select.

There doesn't seem to be any way to close the program aside from making it a window and clicking on the X.

I am grateful to get this player because the CyberLink player that was bundled with my BD-ROM drive is very troublesome, won't play some of my movies now. I also like the idea that it is region-free, and the design is very modern and attractive.
The two downsides I see so far is that it is dropping frames quite noticeably, whereas with the CyberLink player it wasn't happening or wasn't as noticeable; and there is no help that I can find built in to the player, you have to go online and find a page on 'Getting Started'.

Have used the 1.5 & 1.7 versions of this program on multiple PCs. Works well with DVDs but have yet to get it to play an ISO file straight up like Aurora or MacGo players. Will play virtual DVDs (ISOs loaded into an optical drive emulator), though. Has anyone else experienced this behavior besides me?

Unable to report on Blu-Ray playback as I haven't used it with any Blu-Ray discs or images yet.

Can anyone explain the registration process? I've filled in my details on the website, been sent a code, but there is nowhere to enter those details in the software. Under SETTINGS, register, purchase and offline activation are all greyed out.

Or does it automatically self-activate?

Very confusing.

The option tho activate/register is already grayed out, does this mean the program is (pre)registered (I had v1.5 installed)?

There seems to be an update to v1.7.0.5 available that does not change the "grayed out activation" after installation.
So is it safe to install this update without loosing the free license?

Thanks and regards!

Hi Cha-Cha. Thanks a lot for your review. However, I wonder, if you made a mix up, when you recommend Rippers as alternative for a player :)
I Installed, just like Karl, on a Win8.1.2 64 bits machine, and this BluRay Player is just okay as far as I'm concerned - since Cyberlink won't let us try their soft for free. That's not gonna happen, so here we go. Thanks to Leawo Software for generous offer, to the team behind GOTD - and not least my fellow users giving me good advices and freeware each and every day. Greets from Denmark. Have a nice weekend.

Pros
Provide access to the most important options a user may need
Support play Blu-ray disc/Blu-ray folder/Blu-ray iso
Support to play DVD disc, folder and ISO files.
Support almost any kinds of video and audio format(MP4, MKV, MOV, WMV, AVI, FLV, MP3, etc.)
Full screen and choose audio track and subtitle
Multiple languages supported
Support Windows 8.1 perfectly. (Some software does not support the 8.1 version)
High quality video image and sound.
Playlist editable.
Customizable skins.

Cons
While playing some BD discs, the program is not going as smooth as video files.
A little bit big in size.
And alittle slow

If you are a video fan and watch videos on computer a lot, you will definitely keep this software although it still needs enhancement. However, some countries' laws don't allow this kind of Blu-ray/DVD decryptor programs. Check your laws before you use it! But for DVD users from UK, it's OK.

Have a nice weekend.
