Installed easily on windows 8. I did a quick test with a 127 page ebook filled with free craft patterns. It worked flawlessly and super easy.

I did install to the program file and not the C as shown on the download and I did choose my external drive for the completed path. It put the book into it's own folder and the image quality was good.

No problems and no complaints. Since today's is a "free offer" I will definitely keep it even though there may be other "always free" software programs out there.

The reverse of this is called CutePDF.. Take a single or series of JPGs( practically any image format) and convert to one single PDF.

I voted thumbs UP because there's also a Mac version offered here today. Usually, I rely on WINE to make GOTDs work on Linux, and today I can make this GOTD work on both Linux & Mac. Thanks GOTD!!

A professional solution would be Abby Finereader and this would mean manual correction, too (always needed). My best "budget" proposal is "Aiseesoft PDF to Word Converter". Test the normal version - if it works for you, buy the "ultimate" version - on sale for $ 41.40. It works with the Abby Finereader OCR module (limited options, but sufficient for the normal user)

Older versions of ABBYY FineReader Professional Edition were available for free but unfortunately it does not appear to be available any more.
It is still possible to buy older versions (8) starting at around £45 on Amazon.
As far as I am aware the only difference between the older versions and the latest versions is that the newer ones can create documents into more modern formats.
Even version 5 will be more than adequate for your needs and quite frankly I doubt you will find a better OCR program anywhere.

I give my vote to FREE PDFIll Tools. I've used to extract pages from a PDF Atlas to individual images as high as 600 dpi, all without a hitch or complaint.

Not strictly on topic, but I would like some help:

I need something that will create WORD (.doc or .docx) files from a PDF, but not a .doc that is a set of scanned images. Something that creates actual letters and words. I'll even pay for it if it does the job. I haven't found anything so far that doesn't create pasted images of pages, isn't full of crapware, or doesn't create garbled junk from it's OCR routine.

I know Adobe PDF Reader is constantly getting criticized, but I keep it on my system as well for a very good reason - Part of the bloat with the program is a very good OCR reader is built in. When you try to search inside a PDF for specific text, you will find nothing if it is pictures of words, such as a scanned document. This is why the Reader is still more useful than you might first think and why it might be worth all the bloat and possible security holes - Something you have to decide on for yourself. If you have been searching for text in PDFs and having problems, you might well be searching a scanned document, or possibly a "flattened" one with a reader without OCR. I found this out the hard way, spending two days unable to find some things when I first switched over to a different reader.

There's free PDFViewer which is a great PDF viewer (I am not using Adobe Reader for many years thanks to it) and which happens to have an excellent tunable PDF to JPG conversion.

You’re using 8.1 It isn’t in the list.

The software is so old, that Win 8.x didn't exist at the "programming" time. If it is a simple structured program, it installs and works of course under Win 8.x, too, without any compatibilty mode settings.

Convert pretty well in all formats except in gif where we loose the colors.
Once we put a file for converting it would be a good idea to keep the file in the list to be converted instead of removing it after conversion. In this manner we can try another format of conversion without reloading the file again.

This was installed and registered easily on to an XP sp3 system. I heeded Karl's warning and installed it to the Program Files rather than root folder when given the choice. I tried it on a pdf of a form and it created an image file which was sharp and clear, automatically placing it in a new folder (this would have been helpful with a multi-page pdf).

Sometimes researchers preparing talks are sent images which have been scanned to pdf: this program can be used to convert them to image files which can be used in Powerpoint or simple slide show presentations.

I'm using the Aimersoft PDF Converter Pro from a previous giveaway. It usually works great and can convert up to 200 PDFs in a batch. The only problem is that sometimes it doesn't safe the original picture size but only a thumbnail, probably from a preview pic embedded into the PDF, I don't know.
So, can anybody tell me if this software is any better? I have a converter that doesn't have the "thumbnail"-problem, however it can't convert in batch-mode.

Does what it claims but why pay 50 bucks to convert PDFs to images?

Installed and registered WITH problems on a Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit system.

The program installs itself in C:\PDF2JPG - an absolute nogo! The default output path is C:\OUTPUT.

The program itself is from October 2012, the .DLL are from March 2009 (2010). The "about" is from 2010.

A (US?/Chinese?) company without name and address, but a toll-free number in the US. The number leads to some other software. Have a look, a Keylogger Spy Software is included. LOL.

Upon start a small not resizable window opens, you can add your PDF and convert. That's simple and it works. But:

The 187% are simply ridiculous, the page range can be selected by clicking on the right side setting->first page->click on value. Corresponding the last page and the DPI. The program does not check the logic - and it overwrites always without asking the output files.

If you really need a simple PDF to JPG converter, you can take this. It does, what it claims - please do not blame the company, if the speed is not 187% faster.

I have no need for such a tool. Uninstalled via reboot.

When I first saw this I checked the date to see it was April Fools' Day, $49 for this!!
