#67, LAH2000: You are correct that AllMyNotes will not directly open Info Select database files (.wd2). However, Info Select has an export function and AllMyNotes has an import function. One common format that they both share is Rich Text Format (.rtf), which supports not only text with attributes but also images.

If the RTF export/import does not work for your needs, then the trick is to massage the exported data from Info Select into a different format that AllMyNotes can import. This massaging can often be done automatically just by passing the data through a third program. For instance, Info Select can export in Xbase (.dbf) format. There are many programs (like the free OpenOffice Base) that can import .dbf files, and you can then export that data into another format like .html which can be read by AllMyNotes. You can also manipulate the data prior to the export to get things just the way you want them.

It's not as simple as pointing to the Info Select data files and importing them directly, but if you really want to get away from Info Select as badly as you say then it's worth a little effort to get it done.

Portable would be nice, I use several computers (3 in my first office, 4 in another and 2 at home.) I use a 80g usb passport hard drive and all the software on it is portable, most by their respective authors and others by the Cameyo software packaging system. Use the Cloud? Well if the networks had access to the internet (security prohibits this) cloud based might work. Note taking, screenshots of errors and looked up errors/solutions conveniently available on my portable drive in one program would be wonderful. As it is now it takes 2-3 separate portable programs to accomplish the better part of what I need in this category of data retention.

2 Suzanne (#71): Likely you are from EU member state. We do notify all our users from EU that they have to use iPortis payment provider cause it currently charges no VAT, also, when you specify your country every payment provider should notify you on updated price. I bet you've checked out too soon :) If it's a big deal please contact the support, we'll see what we can do.

I happy danced in my chair when i saw this giveaway! I lost the program when i got a 'new' computer and was almost sobbing. Though they have a free version, it's nothing like this one. I love it!

As a write (yes, pro) I need somewhere to store notes and all kinds of other bits that goes along with it. This does it all for me. And it's absolutely perfect for it. Of everything I've tried, this is the best, hands down. It allows me to save everything I need, pile in notes, save URLs, the whole nine. I highly recommend it, and did on my FB page!, for anyone.

Thanks for a great giveaway and this program is the best. HUGE thumbs up for me!

I am very impressed with this program! However, I am locked in to Miclog (Info Select)due to the inability of being able to import my data into AllMyNotes! I started our with Tornado Notes, then to the various upgrades when it became Info Select. I would love to be able to get away from 'Software Nazis' (including Microsoft), however I am locked into Info Select because of years and years of data. I pleaded with Vlad to help me with that issue, however he evidently can not write an import program because Info Select is copyrighted and Miclog will not allow it. For anyone who is just beginning to use a random access database, this is an excellent program!!

P.S. Vlad, please try to find a resolution to the IS quagmire!!!

AllMyNotes is great, but if you also need the Post-It kind, check out the amazing Stickies, a totally free program that has been lovingly and skillfully maintained for over a decade. It supports hierarchical categories and (with one of its free extensions) tags for searching. Also TCP/IP-based note messaging, rich text and image editing, etc.
There is much more that I still don't know about even though I've used it for years and the documentation is excellent, complete, and clearly written.

http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/

Stickies has a minimal footprint. The author says:

Stickies is a PC utility I wrote to try to cut down on the number of yellow notes I was leaving stuck to my monitor. It is a computerised version of those notes.

The design goal behind Stickies is that the program is small and simple. Stickies will not mess with your system files, or write to the registry. Stickies stores information in a single text-based ini file.

Must admit it's great to see a developer put so much effort into answering the questions posed on this site.
For those this program suits it is probably a first rate choice, it can only get better because of the attitude of the company that developed it.
Best of luck Vlad!

For what it's worth, I've had this for a few years, I saw it here and bought it. I can say by having used it that it works well on Windows 7 and 8 both 32 and 64 bit. I've never had it crash or cause a problem and it's very useful, has a lot of useful functions. There is one thing I wish it had [which may be in a future version] is the ability to import icons, but that's not a big deal. I've tried Zotero and evernotes, in my opinion this is easier to use and more versatile. Another fact, I've used it in Linux Mint, through wine.

Not sure why but I'm getting a NSIS installer integrity check error whenever I try to install this. It says the problem could be a corrupted download but I've tried downloading it three different times, once after a reboot and the third time through IE instead of Firefox. Anyone else have this problem?

In relation to the question about whether or not this is a trial version that will expire, I would say that it is not. I have advanced my computer calendar 3 years and the program is still the deluxe version. The version I got from BitsDuJour back in January (version 2.78) has expired already.

I've had this program for 6 months, and I'm another one who is totally dependent on it for my everyday usage. I purchased it almost immediately. Some of the features I like are: lightning-fast search makes it easy to find notes and it highlights the search text; table functionality is easy to use for my needs, although it isn't as robust [to me, a good thing] as in Word or other word-processing programs; easy to rearrange notes under a folder or move them to a different folder; easy to start using right away; you can insert an icon into a folder or note title; the developer is very responsive to questions or problems.

The cons: Like the earlier guy, I have a problem with the tiny icons and titles for the folders and notes. Also there aren't enough icons.

Over the years I've tried many database and PIM programs and heavily used these: Evernote (versions 1-3; finally upgraded reluctantly to v. 5); TreePad Plus; UltraRecall Pro. Evernote 5 was pretty good until a few months ago when changes were made that made it difficult for me to get around inside it and to find data. I don't have a smartphone or other devices I need to keep synced and I didn't like the idea of having my data (except for one folder) on the internet. TreePad and UltraRecall worked for me for several years, but I hated the search function in UR.

Although the developer says you can keep your data all in one db, I've elected to keep mine in 3, since I only use two of them occasionally: Genealogy (for research data I eventually transfer to my genealogy/family tree program); Computer (for receipts, how to, and everything related only to my computer); and Personal (for everything else).

#35 Ctrl-v will paste "WYSIWYG" (how many remember . what you see is what you get? CTRL-ALT-V pastes plain text. I've been lobbying for years to have an icon for that little 12 times a day function. ... VLAD you owe me for all the good things I say about your program! Ha!

#36 Do you assume all GOAD are 1 year subscription? Would you not try this software if it was only a one year and dirt cheap 71% discount?
Is there no application that everybody couldn't use it for? I keep "all my life's info in one "file" recently split out recipes and health and computer info into new ddb files. Example: Created new "medical.ddb cut and pasted medical from main and done. About 50 seconds. Unlike many upgrades seem to be about 6+ times a year (or more). Very fast download, install over and continue on your way very fast very painless. Learn as you go. OBTW I also have azz cardfile, Treepad biz, Essential Pim, Evernote etc. 30+ years of A.D.D.-- info junkie trying to manage far too much. Great internal search too. Kudos to warm and brilliant people behind this.

This installed and registered easily on Win8 64bit.
I used the setup wizard during the install and have the templates in place.
For those that use this, I have a very specific need and would like input.
I have PTSD and have nightmares 4-7 nights of the week. It's very hard to deal with and the daytime exhaustion makes things even worse.
Last week, my dr started me on a medication to help with this. I am making notes in my Fitbit Journal (for those unfamiliar, a FitBit is a pedometer that also tracks your sleep) BUT, I have found no way to export my Journal Notes to take to the next doctor visit so he can evaluate it's efficacy.
Help, anyone???

I have been using Jot Notes for years, as, according to their website http://kingstairs.com/products/jot/ it is used by major corporations. I have found it the best of all these PIMs. BUT.. it hasn't been updated for 6 years now, and though I still use it every day, and it is probably my most important program, I would swap to something similar (which AMN is)which has the capability of being used under Android, or in the cloud. I realise Evernote is very much that way inclined, but so far I haven't been able to see how Evernote could possibly do all the things Jot and AMN do so neatly.

So, for Vlad to answer:
1. Will AMN be released for Android, or in the cloud?
2. Is there a way I could easily export from Jot Notes to AMN?

Jot is used by some big companies.. I hope that means that I not at all alone in hoping that Vlad will have found a way to move to AMN!

This is my go-to repository of information I save from the web. Among a myriad of categories of information I've stored in AllMyNotes, I probably have 40 different categories of Giveawayoftheday programs where I save screenscrapes of advice and wisdom and free alternatives given by experts in this forum (e.g. labelled "Partitioners", "Video Editing", ....).

That's because I do most of my heavy browsing on my PCs (sync'ing manually by exporting/importing via cloud storage).

Then I got a Chromebook and found I couldn't do heavy duty browsing on it with my faithful companion AllMyNotes. I realize it's not easy to create a Chrome app, but any kind of "hacky" access we could make to some format on Google Drive or Documents would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just pin 'notepad' or 'wordpad' to the taskbar? I've been using it that way for years and have never had a problem. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but according to the comments I've read so far, well over 70% of the users have this software for simple note taking and reminders. It astounds me that so many vendors reinvent what is already in windows, and the people buy it up because they have no idea what their own computer can do 'out of the box'.

2 Tess (#36). This Deluxe version is life-long. Oh course, there is something you have to consider about it. As it's giveaway, and we are trying to avoid piracy, the license is linked to your hardware (HDD serial). The license is stored in the .key file, you need to keep it, thanks to it you can even survive system reinstallation.

Microsoft's OneNote is far superior.

I have tried previous versions of AllMyNotes Organizer previously offered here, (and other note-keeping software; I still find MS OneNote much better when you harness its power. And as a previous poster mentioned it is now free. With OneNote, I can secures notes, synchronize across devices, share all or portions of a notebook, have live meetings with a shared notebook, etc.

You really can't compare this with Evernote & Zotero. While there may be some overlap, they are 3 different tools.

Evernote is a great clipper bin for all sorts of stuff. Add a key word and with Evernote's OCR capability, you can pretty much dump all your stuff into the same folder and still find it quickly. I have three folders... shared, private (non-synced) and everything else.

Zotero is a special beast useful if you want to capture bibliogrpahic information for research purposes. It would never replace Evernote.

AMN (I own a copy FWIW) is quite different. It organize your work. If I'm preparing notes, it easily sets up outlining capability and cross-links. It doesn't replace Evernote, nor does Evernote replace AMN.

FWIW this developer passionately supports his product. The only issue I have is a lack of table capability (either word doc, or spreadsheet snippet).

There's a place for all 3 of these apps depending on your need.

There are comments about Evernote versus today's GOTD, saying that Evernote is better as it's cloud based and can synchronise data between computers. (And one from #16 Sky who won't use Evernote because of security concerns.) With AllMyNotes, and TreeDBNotes which has also been mentioned, you can save your encrypted data files on a cloud drive and access them from all your computers. It all boils down to who do you trust, and how far you trust them.

One other thing, I've noticed that one of the suggestions for improvements includes "Also a hotkey to paste the contents of the clip board." That has me a bit confused. Hasn't Control-V been the system-wide shortcut for this since Windows 3.1?

I have to say I am VERY happy this is being offered again on GAOTD, because they always offer a huge discount with the giveaway and I intend to get this while it is so cheap. This is a very nice software for keeping track of notes or lists or whatever. I'm not a power user (I don't keep recipes, etc. on it - I have dedicated programs for that sort of info), but I do find that I use this every day for those little notes about tasks that need to be addressed then cleared later or for bits of information I find interesting/useful that don't fit into a particular category. I've used Evernote and I find my privacy to be more important than automatic syncing (I don't mind pushing a button on my own). I have Zotero (and DocEar at one point) installed, but I only use them for saving web information that requires sourcing (they are geared for researchers and not really every day users) and to be honest, I don't like the way it looks or how it behaves. Maybe I need to work with those programs more or maybe it's because I have my own way of organizing files/information that I like, but I much prefer All My Notes for all those little snippets of information I find.

Mostly what I like about this program is the privacy aspect. I LIKE that it is a stand-alone program and that I'm not required to set up an account to broadcast all of my business, interests, or life all of the internet without my consent. You can't really compare All My Notes to Evernote, Zotero, etc. because they are all geared for different user experiences. If you want something simple to use with a clean interface, I highly recommend you give All My Notes a try.

If you want to see a comparison of features for DocEar, Zotero, and Mendeley visit this page: http://www.docear.org/2014/01/15/comprehensive-comparison-of-reference-managers-mendeley-vs-zotero-vs-docear/

Thanks to GOTD and Vlad.
This software looks good. I have the portable free edition of All My Notes in my PC prior to this giveaway.

As to what software is better, it really depends.
To each his own.
Sometimes a particular software's user interface just clicks with you and really like it very much.

If you like Evernote or some other software, good for you.
There is no need to go through another learning curve, if what you have is already good enough.

I use a bare bones basic approach to note keeping.
My Nokia e71 mobile phone ( I know,....it is outdated and not as good as iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S5) has an ActiveNotes function.
I use that to keep notes through out the day as noteworthy events happen. They are sent by Bluetooth to my PC via Nokia PC Suite.
The ActiveNotes HTML files are then transferred to MsWord doc file.
The MsWord file is a day-by-day year long diary.
Each year starts a new Ms Word file.
Every text is instantly searchable in any MsWord doc file.

I have been using a PIM for many years starting back with the Palm and Info Select that could be used on my desktop and Palm. Tried and paid for this program and it did import my other data base to a degree with some success but it did not have a program for the Smartphone.

Finally I found the answer to this problem with EssentialPIM. This program does offer both sides of my needs and the ability to sync between them.

To days offer is similar and would be great if it had a Smartphone addition. Their customer service is outstanding.

This program has been invaluable to me. I downloaded 2.70 from GAOTD and have become dependent on it. I'm using XP Pro, SP3, 32 bit, and am terrified of losing everything to a system crash. Backups are done regularly, but in case of a disk crash, or system crash, I guess I'm stuck with buying.

Another question: what will happen to my data if I upgrade my OS to 64 bit or switch to Linux? I'm not a computer person.

Should I bother with this update for XP?

Thanks to the developers for this great product. I do wish I could turn off the nag screen that comes up every time the program starts, but perhaps that will go away with the update.

This is a great app I use for years now (bought the deluxe version on a promo) a good time ago

But there are things I miss from the app:
1 - Ability to sync the note DBs to multiple computers (I have 2 notebooks and a desktop here)
I know there is a function to sync it to specific server, but I do not think the function is clear / automatic to use (exemple: Use famous cloud services APIs inside the app to make easier to sync)
2 - A mobile app (at least Android and IOS) to at least see the notes on the go
3 - Multiple DBs handling - I have here the portable version installed with older notes and general stuff, and the main program with more "organized" things, so if the program could use tabs to different Dbs it would be better.

I have been using a freeware for a long time, it practically supports any kind of text you want, and it comes with a 256 bit AES encryption and it reall simple to handle and its portable:
* programming code snippets
* notes
* links
* quotes
* SQL queries
+ whatever you like you name it

Download it here :

I've used this program since the first giveaway here; purchased it at the discount that day, after playing with it awhile. I love it, and use it very differently than I do Evernote. I use Evernote for things I MIGHT want to follow up on that I stumble upon on the internet. AMN is for things I actually do and definitely want to keep, like genealogy, writing, recipes, crafts, sewing, web design, just to name a few. My husband loves it, also, and uses it to track just about everything he has an interest in, and to contain all of the product manuals for items he's purchased. The program is updated regularly, and I've never had a single problem with it. I don't think I could live without it, anymore!

I took you at your word and downloaded the most recent AMN O P
it installed without a hitch and all my data is safe and sound.

Thank you, Mr Vlad!

P.S. It would be really nice if AllMyNotes Organizer Professional had a plug in for Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Illustrator or perhaps Adobe Muse for design purposes.

2 Sky (#16): I’m not exactly sure what you mean under new skin. Same skin as you like must be present in this newer app version.
