Are you kidding me, $99.99 PDF software package that can't even do something as simple as rearrange the page order. I found 'delete pages', 'add pages', 'extract pages', but couldn't find any way to just swap the order of a few pages. How are you supposed to create a PDF if you can't arrange the page order?

Found this very late & was initially dissuaded from installing thanks to the haters here but installed just in the nick of time (2 minutes left). Glad I did; this is the 2nd best GAOTD I've found here (next to True Launch Bar).

This makes wading through all the junk here worthwhile. REALLY a terrific product that does what no freeware can

I took like to install to a different partition, E in my case. I did the regular install and then moved the folder to my E partition it works fine, all I had to do was update the icon, and startup locations on the menu for PDF Impress 2014 and PDF Impress Tools. I like the program, Thanks, GOTD and Binary Now.

I like the fact that the license is good for 3 computers. The program installed fine (with the exception of not being able to install it in a different directory - even though the option is there). It has a snappy interface and is easy to use. Using this program is much better than using an online converter (which is what I have been using). It is a great program (although I am glad that I don't have to pay $100 for it - I don't have that kind of money).

Re your closing remark: "And finally, how about EDIT any PDF files of yours like a PRO for FREE, with far more advanced features than those offered by this expensive GAOTD? http://www.pdfeditorfreeware.net "

Be aware The PDFCool page the above link goes to is grossly misleading. The company implies in the main body and also states in the Overview box to the right and beneath the menu that "...With PDFCool, the user can double-click a sentence to edit it, or drag an area and then use the Text Editor tool to edit them."

That is false. IMHO, any reference to editing a PDF document must include the ability to actually change and/or add text at the very least. Rotating, merging, etc., is editing but modifying text is what it's all about!

I did some hunting and found this page on their site: http://www.pdfcool.com/functioncomparison.htm

Again...main vendor page is misleading!

'Always check here daily for your reviews. You and a few others make stopping by worthwhile and an informative experience. Appreciate it...

As good as the previous version was, had forced to uninstall it to install this one; except it won't install to my programs drive as previously was. This one only goes to the system active drive which is not large on space! Tried both the GOTD and trial versions off Binary Now site. Now what; for this reason a Thumbs Down, even though it is O.K. , what now , a program that has to be re-moved for system issues is no good!

#9 Giovanni is quite correct this program offers far more features than the 'freeware' alternatives.

#11 if you look under the options in the 'print' dialog, you will find the option to turn off 'overwriting'. The developer should probably no make overwriting the default though!

If you only have basic create PDF requirements, don't bother with this, or posting your comments! Comments should be limited to what this offering can or cannot do after you try it!
GAOTD only exists so that developers can 'test market' of gain 'focus group type of responses to better improve their products. They are, after all, out to make money and a living!

@sandrababy #27: You can get OCR in several languages by using freeware PDF Xchange Viewer.

I recommend uninstalling Acrobat Reader and making Xchange Viewer your default app for pdf files.

@Faye Davies #3: I second your endorsement of freeware Doro PDF. It is (so far) the best print-to-pdf app I have tried.

@NYC Guy #30: The sites with printable coupons are unfortunately smart enough to know that your "printer" is a PDF file, whichever print-to-pdf app you use. The workaround is to uninstall or remove the coupon printing app that the website installed the first time you printed a coupon. It is as simple as deleting one file. I don't remember the filename offhand, but I think it is something like coupon.dll or coupon.ocx.

- define profile, create a shortcut of that profile on desktop and just keep dropping file to that shortcut. Great idea - I'm going to use this one.
- PDF Tools. pretty nice set of tools, just the viewer needs a bit of work. Why cannot I search in there?
- I'm missing merge function too. I know there is Insert pages, but for 100 you'd expect proper merge. right?
- As someone mention above. their web pages are less than average.
- if they reconsider price for end user I'd buy it
- and frankly guys.. OCR is a must if you charge for your tool. Just license something!

#15 Peter.
There are a number of good reasons for not putting programs on your C drive and separating your information and programs over a number of petitions.
Certainly in XP the petition containing Windows will have very heavy fragmentation as is normal in NT whereas if your data and your programs in other petitions the fragmentation is much less.
With drives being so large in this day and age searching is so much simpler when you limit the size of your partitions, I believe this applies to searching for malware also as the obvious place to put it is on the C drive.

Very nice installation procedure - product key can be entered during the install, so no need to click About etc. -

The .msi creation was a breeze and creates both x64 and x86 versions. Ran install on second PC using the .msi across my network, and it was flawless.

Nicest GAOTD install I've seen in a long time!

Guys, I wish to see the software to provide direct PDF protection for distribution. This should include unique PC ID and license management such that the authors can have security for their product to run on single PC and one user (thus blocking copies to be run elsewhere like mushrooms). Any idea who can provide this service(s)?

Bullzip is my favorite. I tried others and was disappointed. Whereas this one fits the bill. Also if you have also Sumatra pdf viewer, you won't need to convert as many formats are viewable such as .pdf (obviously), .epub, .mobi, .cbr, .cbz, djv, .djvu. But alas not yet office formats. So that's where PDF Impress comes in.

1. Pdf Impress is a bit heavy (should not be more than 30MB for a download).

2. It should not be so expensive especially in times of recession! But I'm glad that today, it's free. So thanks a bunch!

3. You need to add OCR for several languages as many users nowadays need to deal with pdf files written in foreign languages including businesses and students. (However, I doubt that students will go for this tool as the price is too high).

4. It should preserve links in full.

5. It should create a shortcut on the Desktop and if I want it to install to another folder, it should follow my lead!

6. However, I was happily surprised by the number of tools that this software has to offer... Many formats too. You can resize (well, Bullzip does that too and for free)

7. Too complex to use. I could not even find merge as I converted successfully all my pictures to make a book but could not merge all the pdf files to a single one. I tried the Help but could not find it here either. Without it, it is useless for me I'm afraid.

8. To exit I could not as each pdf files needed to be saved twice and that got me frustrated and I simply killed the instances of this program in my Task Manager.
I'm very disappointed. I prefer PdfZilla which does all this and more. But it remains simple to use and does not confuse the user.

Hi, apart from today's main Giveaway, my eye caught what else is on offer by BinaryNow, and that is "Elegant Font Collections".., now, being an arty animal designing and writing a lot I soon started drooling over the beauty of these Fonts (not free though) and promptly jumped to my favorite Font site to look for similar..:

http://www.fontspace.com/category/

and yes, I found what BinaryNow inspired me to do (and for free) - spending a good hour in so addictive 'sport' of mine:) Fonts naturally go to main writing/designing Programs (like mail I use, PSP a.s.o)

Who says Giveaways don't inspire, even if opting out from main Gift? Thanks for that!

From what I can see it does not support the ability to choose a group of files, arrange them in a particular order and create one PDF.
Also, when using PDF Impress printer driver from Photoshop with crop marks option, the crop marks are very faint compared to Acrobat.

To Bub (Comment #18):

Point taken. Feedback is important for vendor as well as for other users.

I see this as a desktop conversion solution for enterprise, not a server one. Watchers are nice, but not so important. I see them as personal watchers, not server/group one so the licensing should not be issue. I think some of these features can be very appealing to enterprise IT managers.

- PDF profiles with custom MSI package creation which allow pre setup default configuration on each desktop
- digital signature with appearance is much better than an average ( webcam support or just type in name to create a signature image is nice)
- Email task allow sending PDF files directly through SMTP or Outlook. (this can be used for sending invoices, quotes etc.. by email as part of the conversion process)
- Print task (when you create PDF you can automatically also print it into physical printer within one process. Many enterprises still keep hard copies for archive)
- Developer API allows to integrate this application with any third party software.
- Right click conversion and digital signature support can be used for expense report approval by multiple employee (documents flow)
- and probably many other ways how this can be used...

This is very professional and feature full solution, it is good chance that some organization will use only part of it ( e.g. printer+custom profiles+integration). Nice thing that PDF Impress is flexible enough so IT manager not a vendor is making a decision how the product is going to be used/implemented in the enterprise.

I see here:
- printer+PDF profiles+custom install
- PDF Workroom + right click conversion and digital signing
- PDF Tools for pdf manipulation
- Desktop Watcher for automated conversion
- Integration with third party software
- Batch conversion (through Workroom or PDF to Convert folder)

Maybe each part could be priced/licensed separately?

Dear developer: Yes your product works good, and it's basic features proceed as expected, but in a field with such fierce competition, your program already exists [elsewhere], so what's your claim to fame?

When selling on the web, you need to put a little more effort into your web page presentation, because, it examples the efforts you put into your product. If bloated, unprofessional and lacking personality, is what your going for, [Hot Dog], you nailed it.

Before downloading you should know the following information from
http://www.binarynow.com/products/pdf-impress/features/

User interface is available in Czech, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. Users can easily add a new language(s) using a localization kit.

If your mother tongue is missing in this list perhaps you will be confronted with some misinterpretation of some special letters of your language (like nordic ones) as some people were. Therefore thanks.

To Pete (Comment #14):

It's true that today's giveaway is free, but remember that one of the reasons that companies put their software on GAOTD is to get feedback about their product. Noting that the software is overpriced for what it does is valid - and perhaps valuable - feedback.

It's true that the $99 price tag is for a 3-user license. But I still have doubts about how this pricing scheme will appeal to businesses. It seems to me that the main appeal this program holds over its free and open source competition is the ability to watch folders. There are a number of scenarios under which this may be useful for businesses.

But that would typically be implemented as a server-side function, with the monitored folder being a network share. A 3-user (or 250-user) license doesn't add to the appeal, at least for that purpose, regardless of the per-user price.

Skip this GOTD.
It must be very good for a big corporation.
The $100 price is not an issue since it is aimed at corporate market.
For what it does, that may be considered a bargain price.

After all bankers take home millions $ in year end bonuses on top of their Millions $ pay. And when the CEO leaves, he gets a golden handshake that is more than $100 Million. Don't worry about big corporations - they can afford this $100 software.

But for home user, this is overkill and over-complication.
Most of all, I am concerned that installing this may affect the existing PDF software - that it may elbow out other software and install it self as the default.

Some PDF freeware already serving well.
- do PDF
- PDF Fill Tools
- Foxit PDF reader
- Sumatra PDF reader
- Expert PDF
- PDF Xchange

and giveaway software PDFZilla Converter

My PC has a "Save as PDF" option when I print a web page.
The resulting PDF preserves all visible as well as hidden links; unlike this heavyweight PDF Impress which according to Ashraf can only preserve some links.

Many thanks to Giovanni for pointing out and giving the link to Tomahawk PDF Plus Ver 3.1 freeware. It is just what I was looking for.

Price correction. Price for PDF Impress 2014 is listed on this site as "The program is available for $99.95, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer."

This statement is partially misleading because it does not include the information that price of $99.95 is for 3 user license which is given away in this giveaway. We apologize.

Current PDF Impress 2014 primary use is in large organizations. If demand increases we will consider the creation of small business/ home edition with some group features removed and lower price.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

This tools includes virtual printer. It does not matter where you try to install it, some dll's and other parts will have to be included into operating system folder and so most probably will go to c:\ drive regardless the setting in the install.

So the idea of keeping c:\ drive clean will not work for this type of application (apply for any virtual printer).

I am not saying that install should not allow to move the other part of the product to a different drive to save a space on C:\ drive if required. I am saying that if you have enough space on C:\ drive install it there because some part must be installed there anyway. It is bad habit to have one application installed on multiple drives unless it is necessary.

I do not get it. Why people complain about the price when we got this for free? I wish this would cost $1,000, it would make me feel even better. Thanks GOTD.

Anyway, pricing for this product is not so off-the-grid, when you consider that $99 is for 3 users..... meaning $33 per user and when 250 user license cost $3k, meaning only $12 per user. I am sure that BIG CORP. can afford to pay $12 per user for this fully feature tool.

I always prefer to get a fully featured software for free (if given away) than a features limited freeware.

Excellent tool today if you are, like me, a PDF junkie: this is actually much more than a normal PDF creator, since it sports very advanced features...

For instance, with this tool you can alter the PAGE LAYOUT, customize the background theme and font embedding, as well as optimize your PDFs for website publishing purposes by compressing page content or removing JavaScript and annotations.

Can also dramatically increase your productivity, since to create a PDF file what you have to do is just to drag & drop any printable files (DWG, BMP, WORD, PPTX, XLS, HTML and CSV) onto a sort of SHORTCUT created by the software itself on your desktop, and then...voilà....a compelling PDF file will be automatically created on the fly, according to your settings profile.

Last but not least it boasts an unique supercool feature called "Watchers", which enables you to automatically convert any files residing into a specific target FOLDER into new PDF files without lifting a finger.

How COOL is that?

Honestly don't know any FREEWARE out there able to provide users with the same features.

So 3 THUMBS UP from me!!

But 100 BUCKS? Are you kidding me, man? Now, I quite understand that this app is mainly addressed to the CORPORATION envinroment, but for that price you should at least add a professional OCR tool and give users more advanced EDITING option, enabling them to copy all clickable hyperlinks in the PDF output as well, a key feature missing in this expensive GAOTD.

LOWER the price MAN and/or add the above feature, please....

BEST FREE ALTERNATIVES

There are many FREE PDF creators on the market but, as I said, none of them sports the same advanced features as this GAOTD instead does.

http://www.girdac.com/Products/PDF-Converters/Free-PDF-Creator/Info/Features.htm (==> supports over 300 Windows apps supported)
http://www.dopdf.com (==> does not require either GhostScript or .NET)
http://en.pdf24.org/pdf-creator-features.html
http://www.7-pdf.de/en/products/7-pdf-maker

Then, why not protect your PDF files like a GURU for FREE, against online thieves?

http://www.armjisoft.com/?page=pdfownerguard

But hey...let's now give the developer of this GAOTD a big lesson, mentioning FREE tools which perform some advanced tasks on PDF files this GAOTD (worth a whopping 100 bucks) cannot do yet...

...LOL...a lesson given for FREE of course!

For instance, to preserve clickable HYPERLINKS in the PDF output, try these excellent FREE tools:

http://www.nativewindsofmontana.com/software/tpdfplus.html
http://www.nemopdf.com/guide/pdf-to-word.html
http://www.pdfonline.com/pdf-to-word-converter

And what if you could embed MULTIMEDIA FILES into a PDF file for FREE in order to create extremely professional media-rich & interactive ebooks, without any XML, CSS or JavaScript code knowledge?

http://bookbin.sourceforge.net

If you are instead eager to create a PDF file directly from scanned documents and images for FREE:

http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Microsoft/WinScan2PDF
http://www.freepdfsoft.com/tour_scantopdf.html

Wanna create for FREE a PDF file by extracting text from an image or from a scanned document (OCR) or just extract text from a PDF file in order to make it editable?

http://www.ocronline.com (==> Supports over 153 languages)
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/Free-Image-OCR.shtml (==> AD Supported App...so be careful while installing it)
http://www.paperfile.net (==> It uses the powerful Tesseract engine by Google)
http://vietocr.sourceforge.net/scanning.html (Giovanni's cool new entry)

And finally, how about EDIT any PDF files of yours like a PRO for FREE, with far more advanced features than those offered by this expensive GAOTD?

http://www.pdfeditorfreeware.net

Hope the developer has learned my lesson today, giving me/us an ever better updated app next time....LOL! ^_^

Enjoy!

Looks like a tool for heavy pdf consumers and creators. Honestly not for me - but I love the stamp with webcam capture. Are there any free alternatives with this simple function?
Also I appreciate that I can tweak pdf during conversion in the save dialog.
What's the use of msi feature?

btw: I'm not going to comment UI - I hate W8, so that would not be fair, cause I know people that love it

Same problem as #4 program will not install where I what it, always goes to c: drive. I put nothing on c: drive in case of a crash. Why give an option to put it where you what it, if the program installs where it wants??? If it can't do an install correctly, what makes me think it will do what I would like it to do correctly.

Off to a bad start I also wished to install to a different partition than C but as with #4 abc8808, it allowed me to change the drive and then totally ignored my instructions.
On opening presented with an interface that appeared to be designed with Windows 8 in mind,i.e that was designed by a bricklayer or a kid using Lego.
In this day and age how can Microsoft still produce an interface that is so inelegant and clunky.
The program itself appears to be a PDF printer with lots of bells and whistles, done I should imagine to justify the eye watering price.
It appears you can set up the program and then create an MSI file to distribute it with these settings which you can then put on servers, this is a guess on my part as is the idea that you do not pay extra for each of these installations.
It looks like it was designed as a business tool rather than for personal use, personally I don't have use for most of the features and the ones I do have use of are freeware so I won't be keeping it.

I installed the app. twice onto the partition D:\ but at both times, it turned out to be installed onto C:\ instead! I uninstalled and deleted it. But thank you GAOTD anyway.

Problem with software like this is there is too many good free alternatives. I`m not sure this offers anything the free ones don`t for PDF creation. Its just a virtual printer.

Best free alternatives:
DoPDF (http://www.dopdf.com/)
Doro (http://thesz.diecru.eu/content/doro.php)
PDF24 (http://en.pdf24.org/creator.html)

review you linked to your comment is pretty old isn't it? I trialed this app 3 weeks ago and liked the UI. Also I process a lot of documents so automation is good. just they should think about doing something with the price - thanks to GOTD :)
btw: scan2pdf would be great to have
