Hi, Tim,
Could you mind installing it on the first drive? Please don't install it at the same partition where you want to recover data from.

Here's my "Good to see you back, Ashraf!". His 'summary reviews' with a link to the 'full version' are always helpful. My response to Glen & Bingo's comments: The full version of Ashraf's reviews would take up too much space if posted here at GAOTD. I like the fact that I can check out dottech.com link when it's convenient instead of having to read through it right away. Ashraf's GAOTD reviews introduced me to the dottech.com website. It is a great resource. I frequently go there for info on various programs and computer related issues [and it hasn't cost me a cent, but has helped with a buying decision.]. Ashraf is not the only contributors to the site. So,Bingo & Glen, I'm not sure what your beef is?

Also, Ashraf and Giovanni are not competitors with each other, but others on this forum seem to want create a false competition between them? Giovanni frequently gives his input on the dottech.com site. Look today and you'll see what I mean. They both provide valuable input at GAOTD and at dottech.com.
As far as today's giveaway is concerned, I will pass. 1_It doesn't offer a bootable disk ability. 2_I already have several recovery programs that serve me well [giveaways & purchased] 3_I'm running out of 'C' drive space [too many good GAOTDs].

The RECUVA program has already been suggested by others. IMHO it is one of the best freeware DATA recovery programs available. It saved me recently when my external usb 'BACKUP DRIVE' suddenly became a "RAW" petition!! I couldn't read it or access it even though it still had over 200GB free before it went "RAW".
Using RECUVA's 'raw' feature I was able to read the entire hard drive 'file directory tree' and copy all of the files I needed to another usb hard drive. [many of the files were no longer on my primary 'C' drive, because I had moved them off to the backup drive to create more space on 'C'.] Next, I ran 'ChkDsk' on the 'raw' drive. That fixed the problem with the drive and it was once again available with everything intact. Lesson learned: Have more than one backup of your critical data [pictures, music, docs, etc] I decided to leave the 'backup' of my 'backup' on the 2nd usb hard drive. along with an 'image' backup of the original backup drive. [I'm beginning to sound a little compulsive regarding my backups..... :} ]

@ #17Bingo, @#20 Glen, et al.

Making money is not a sin, and I'm not a friend, nor supporter of anyone here. I'm here to learn.
Ashraf has to eat, feed his family, and just like you and me, and the rest of the freeloaders of our ilk, he has to pay rent and utilities as well. :-)
So given his knowledge, education and expertise, he is offering detailed information to benefit us and our kind, absolutely for free. GRATIS! and all we have to do is visit his website, but ONLY if we want, which he maintains out-of-pocket.

He's not asking for kudos, nor endorsments, nor subscriptions, nor donations, not even a note of thanks, so we are safe in our anonimity! Aren't we? See?!

From the logical aspect of it, there is no way he could publish his findings and the results of his tests, done for FREE for our benefit I might add, in the format the site of GAOTD is designed to support.
However me bucko, it's our choice to visit Ashraf's website ... or not.

Just like the bunch of you, I know everything as well, but since it doesn't cost me anything, I would never deny Ashraf the benefit of a few "pay-per-clicks" to learn a little more about his point of view. What's wrong with that? eh?

No one should compare Ashraf to Giovanni. Neither could replace the other, and while they compliment each other perfectly, they are different.
Cheers!

I gave today's download a go. Not certain too much if it's actually worth it, if having to pay the asking price. That being said, #8 Defina, what about what it may say at the unofficial website? And at #17 & #20 And most times, when you look at his (ashtrash) review, it comes across as just an advertisement or highlight of what has already been said in the description of the product to start, with no definitive real input. It's reminiscence of having to pay a dime to use a public toilet--only if it was with him you would have to use a quarter to get to the TP! only to find out it was empty.

No feature to boot from USB or CD. Without this absolutely required basic feature, I find the program useless. The disk drive must be removed, placed in a disk drive dock, and scanned from another computer.

Anyone who has ever done real file recovery (not undelete) knows what I am talking about.

@20 Glen

Stop making stupid remarks. I have been following Ashraf's comments for several years and they have always been extremely useful, just as Giovanni's and Fubar's. Thank you so much for all the time you spend to help us! Nobody has ever spent a Cent on Ashraf's site to get precious Information. They spend hours and hours of their time to test and evaluate programs and thus help us to save a lot of time and money. Thanks to all those who help evaluate the GAOTD software instead of making negative remarks!

To the developer:

Genuine question: I spent a nontrivial sum of money on Active@ Undelete Enterprise, with which I've had pretty good success. While it costs more than your offerings, it seems to offer both the core features of the Enterprise version along with the bootable CD capabilities of the WinPE version (and costs less than buying both titles).

The core question I have is the most foundational one: Can you provide any empirical data that would indicate that the Tenorshare titles would be superior at actual data recovery operations? Are there any additional features you would cite as providing a better user experience? Will it read hard disks faster or more accurately?

Thanks!

Joey

Ashraf only does that to attract people to his website to generate traffic and revenue for himself. He only shows up here to make his so called "reviews" when traffic at his website starts declining. I would much rather read Giovanni's reviews because we know he is doing it to inform us of the program and some possible free alternatives, unlike Ashraf who does it to try and make money and only does it when his site is slowing down.

Whenever a utility or business related product is listed, many comments seem to point to the descriptions listed for the product and competitors as the final deciding point. That seems to be similar to trusting the specs and company descriptions of driving a car to decide which one to buy. Are the specs and promo information always complete and accurate? Not in my experience! I am always more interested in the comments from people who have tried a car, or the software, and have tried similar products, than a comparison of listed specifications.

Just saying...

Hi, everybody. Today's offer isn't relevant for me, but I don't give it a thubs down from that point of view. Please help one another and give a little room for the users, who spends time to comment today's giveaway. I wonder where, all this negative behaviour comes from? We're not speaking and writing English/American all of us, but I'm sure, everybody does their best. Thanks to Ashraf (nice to see you), and a special thanks to our King of freeware, Giovanni for fair reviews. With that little epos, I've say thanks, that you read my point - and maybe gave it a thought. Have a nice summer - with all the best wishes from Denmark. Again, please be fair and positive...

Defina, i ask because the WinPE edition had ALL green checkmarks (can be seen at the screenshot from Ashraf in the review from the Final Verdict link) and i saw it myself on the homepage, on RAID0 & RAID5 too! Instead of silently changing/fixing it on the homepage, saying it was a mistake and has been fixed would be much more worth a kudos from my POV. Anyway, now it makes sense, thanks.

Looks like a pretty decent data recovery app but PURAN FILE RECOVERY does the same and even more for FREE, since after some tests I carried out recently turned out to be the only FREEWARE out there capable of recovering almost any files previously stored in an USB drive of minesuddenly bacoming RAW due to a technical hardware failure. And unlike this GAOTD, it's even able to show you the recoverability of files.

http://www.puransoftware.com/File-Recovery.html

So I was wondering why this GAOTD costs 30 Bucks and Puran File Recovery 0 bucks...

Moreover, being the crippled version of the main program (by the way, wouldn't it be the time to give us here only the PRO version of whatsover program in order to test it and review it, on behalf of the developer, as a means of advertising and publicity?) this GAOTD also lacks of the ability to create bootable/recovery CD/DVD/USB, meaning if your PC is not able to bootup anymore this GAOTD becomes absolutely useless. According to the developer (see comment above), to have this feature you have to pay even more...but this is not true for Giovanni...LOL!!

Hi, the WinPE version doesn't support RAID0 & RAID5 recovery, but the Enterprise version support. That's why Enterprise version cost more.
You can check the detailed version comparison in our official website:

For a person who need to restore a big file, after a deletion, the program Data recovery standad 3.1 is not operational. The sort by column on result is possible, but the filters by name or extension are not possible and there is no path possibilty. The size of the windows is fixe and this is a visual limitation. The time search is fast, but i confirm that i don't recommand that program to restore a big file. Worse, in some Folder(x) there are files ghost, it is a bug. You know, I have find only one program to restore a big file.

Hi Defina, can you explain the price differences between the different versions, e.g. WinPE edition has more features than Professional and costs 10 $ less than Enterprise, where the Professional version has less features than the WinPE version and costs the same?
