This is the developer of System Speed Booster.

Thanks for your interest in our software.

We have tested this version of System Speed Booster and found it is OK. It should be a false positive and we have contacted the antivirus software team to fix it.

Hope it helps you.

quote, "WOT= Waste of Time" by Giovanni. I couldn't agree more. This site is skewed into irrelevance due to the fact that anyone, educated or not, can vote a site down if something "bad" happened to them whether it's the site's fault or not. More often it's malware that's already on their system or a totally fragged hard drive, or a number of other computer problems that newbies can't even conceive. And the site gets undeservedly maimed by well-intentioned but uninformed people.

Do yourselves a favor and use some sort of professional site evaluator (the major antivirus companies offer this software for free as a public service) or use the search engines to see if there are bad reports about a particular site (and ignore WOT). Hard working companies deserve a better response than, "WOT said it was bad (by even 1 vote) therefore, I pass."

I'll be blackballed for sure, but I come here often enough to see this issue over and over again, and something must be said. Consider it said. PS- I really enjoy the comments you guys make- I learn a lot and make freeware lists every day from all your comments- not just Giovanni's although his is the most thoughtful overall. :)

For Kerry
"The developer web site and this software is dangerous for your PC. I just have been hijacked by them.
Uninstalling does not help, still hundreds of registry entries left, full of all kind of re-direction web sites and my computer acts like someone is controlling it from distance."

If you are using Chrome, try using Undirect extension to prevent this.

If you are familiar with RegSeeker, you can use it to search and then kill the nasty registry entries. But you have to know what you are doing.

Now the company of this software gets feedback from the community but is still unable to solve problems with their web site. This way they don´t build confidence at all.

regarding boosters/cleaners in general unless my aging memory fails me some versions of windows need ceryain log files in place for some updates. Confirmation or otherwise please and which cleaners/boosters either leave these log files alone or let you pick one by one which to delete

Guys how many times have we seen these kind of "speed up my PC" things? As someone who has built PCs since the days of the 386 let me tell you that 1.- They don't work, 2.- At best it will simply clean temp junk and remove bad reg entries (like CCleaner and a million other freeware programs) and 3.- At worst you can end up damaging your Operating System when it gets too aggressive on its cleaning.

If you really want to speed up your PC there are only a few ways to do it, 1.- get more RAM, 2.- Buy a Solid State Drive (for those that don't want to reinstall or move their OS and are on Win 7 look up "Caching SSD" Sandisk makes one for less than $50 and they work great) or 3.- Buy another PC which if you don't mind getting your hands dirty you can get an AMD multicore kit for less than $150 on Tiger, REAL cheap.

But there is simply no software that is gonna magically speed up your PC, your PC would have to be barely functional for you to even feel anything after running a cleaner program and if you are smart enough to come to GAOTD and take advantage of their free offers you aren't the type that a cleaner is gonna do any good for, sorry.

It seems that today a couple of people with a lot of problems that have nothing to do with this giveaway are online.

I did a scan of the developer's website from my secure browsers (Comodo Dragon and Comodo IceDragon) and from my Internet Security Package (Norton) with no findings. I also installed, did a full virus scan and started the program and then uninstalled it with no remnants left at all in the registry. I used a couple of tools including Wise Care 365 and Revo Uninstaller (and some others of course) to verify this. For me it was the first time I saw an uninstaller that really removed every trace of the installation.

Test off, personal opinion on.

I do think that most cleaners are a pain in the ass. I am using only the scan part of them.

My general advise:

before using this kind of program to clean anything do a full backup of your system and make sure you have the emergency boot media at hand.

If you follow this advise, don't have another tool like this and want to take the remaining risk there is no reason not to use this program.

Well, let's see, they say here:

"Paying a large amount of money for Windows upgrades"
-No, I get my updates from Windows Updates and they're free.
"Enduring the slow speeds, the frequent crashes, the sudden errors of your PC"
-No slow speeds, never a crash, and no errors in the system. I use CCleaner every day after use and Advanced System Care for a thorough cleaning every few days.
"Have no clue of how to remove all of the troubles"
-No, you guys get a clue: I use Malwarebytes AntiMalware and also use Advanced System Care for that also.
"Still have no idea of how to explore the deep potential of computer."
-I believe you guys are looking to further explore the deep potential of extracting $50 from us and having us install this useless spyware riddled crap into our pcs.

A definite THUMBS DOWN...

I've been using IOBit's Advanced System Care free version for some time. This System Speed Booster appears to do several of the things ACS does. But SSB does not address multiple browsers, only IE, does no malware scan and doesn't address disk fragmentation (although ACS only looks at the C: drive, I use Smart Defrag to process all drives).

Contrary to several apparent claims of hijacking or malware, VirScan found nothing (http://r.virscan.org/e3228d08f8c39c539a797372e92ec3c8), Microsoft Security Essentials found nothing, IOBit Malware Fighter found nothing.

Bottom line, this tool tries to do the job it claims, but it falls short IMHO in addressing all speed-affecting system issues, and it is not irrecoverably dangerous since it does contain a restore function to undo all the changes it makes.

Chose what works best for you, spend whatever is in your budget.

Yes BAIDU PC FASTER is very very good. At least it tells you beforehand what it suggests doing and allows you to accept or reject. BUT, like most of the swiss knife optimizers/cleaners out there it installs services that are set to automatic for things that you may not want or need. For example, virus protection even if you have something else installed. Often, there's not settings options to diable these, so you must check services after install and manually stop them and reset from automatic to manual or disable.

Friends,

My advice as a long time user is this: You don't need any boosters but should indulge in periodic hdd cleaning, careful software installation, periodic temp and unwanted files deletion, periodic defragmenting and last but not the least to check startup files.
I run Task Manager at least once every day to ensure that there are no processes which are not known to me and take action to close and stop such processes.
After all you don't know which snake lurks in the den ~ it may be harmless or highly poisonous!
No ill-feeling towards boosters and ram-speed increasing softwares, though :)

I am sorry to add even more problems (from Canada) - I opened up my browser (Chrome-Win7 64bit) & even MORE weird & surprisingly PITA (Pain In The A__) stuff started happening. There was NO button to forward to download page - after attempting 5 or 6 different ways of getting to the download page I got there & I hope the file is actually 12.7 Mb - anyways GAOTD's buttons & links were hijacked to other sites (ie - Where you have "Windows updates" & Windows is a link to (I think) something Window's related - it directs me to a Russian site, where they are asking if I ke up to $70/hr from my home.) I pray that idiots LEAVE THIS SITE ALONE - You guys do a GREAT service & to just screw it up for everyone else - IS NO COOL - KEWL or any other spelling of the word DUMB I can think of. I hope this can be fixed - from a loyal & thankful user - Tom Roberts - I am 60 & you guys ROCK!

To the already expressed negative comments I’ll add that also:
Trend Micro and McAfee antivirus
blacklist the homepage as dangerous.

But even if it weren’t so, the applicable rule is that automated tools in the hands of laymen are risky in the best of circumstances. This is because systems differ, there are unknowns, conflicts and interdependencies, and these make results unpredictable.

The decision is yours, and so is the system to be subjected to the “treatment”.

we have contacted the Developer regarding NOD alert (most probable it's false positive). When we tested the file when getting this giveaway ready the virustotal.com result list was totally clean.

As soon as we get any further information, this comment will be updated.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

For most of us this is a totally worthless bit of software.

If there were no 'BLOAT' on your system and as long as it isn't infected, then there is no reason for your PC to run slow.

There are far better ways (And more permananent and without the high risk of downloading more crap on to your machines), than using this type of software.

Look here and follow the info and advice and if there are still further problems then post a question.

As ever with this kind of software, tread carefully: it's very likely that at least as many computers have been trashed by the elixir of speed boosting / performance boosting / Internet boosting / anything-and-everything-boosting than have been improved. In fact: if your computer is working happily right now, then leave it alone -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it is just about the best piece of advice any computer user can take note of.

Today's software isn't widely known and isn't going to be particularly helped by a website that's noticeably uninformative. Nor is the fact that the name of the product is also the name of the producer, something that, rightly or wrongly, always has me running for the hills.

System Speed Booster by System Speed Booster could, of course, be an outstanding product, but in a market sector as saturated as this one, it needs to be recognizably superior in every way to existing software such as this from Wise:

http://www.wisecleaner.com/wisecare365.html

from which it will be noted that the freeware edition is so similar to the paid-for that there's no reason to fork out for the PRO (scroll down the page in that link to view the comparison table.)

I'm *not* recommending the Wise software, merely highlighting the kind of well-established competition that System Speed Booster is up against. That said: I will highlight the fact that System Speed Booster -- the developer, not the product -- has a "Today Only" offer of this product at half price. Except this isn't the first "Today Only" offer it has made: I've encountered exactly this same half-price 24-hour only offer from this developer before.

Whether the $49.95 retail price quoted on here today or the $24.95 discount price simultaneously quoted on the developer's own website, the question isn't so much the cash value of this kind of product as its user value. After all: the most common causes of a system slow down have nothing at all to do with "boosting", or the lack thereof. They're about computer hardware faults. Or heavily fragmented drives. Or insufficient memory. Or they're about malware and virus infections, or corruption by Trojans of the Master Boot Record. Not a single solitary "booster" out there cures those problems.

What System Speed Booster does is what all such software does: it seeks to bring improvements the nature of which are determined entirely by the way the software has been authored.

The software could be written in such a way as to be skin-deep (CCleaner and its registry sweeper is a fine example of that) or to delve aggressively into the body like a mad scalpel-wielding surgeon, such that the patient doesn't actually recover because both feet have just been amputated when merely the odd toenail needed clipping.

System Speed Booster (the developer) states on its web page that it will scan and remove all obsolete registry entries. Well, er, yes. But what the software's author might think are obsolete entries aren't necessarily going to be what *your* computer thinks are obsolete.

And that's not a criticism of System Speed Booster: every example of this kind of software operates according to how the developer concerned *thinks* your computer runs, even though he's never met you, and hasn't a clue about how the complexities of your computer's configurations differ from the hundred million other computer configurations out there.

Sensibly, System Speed Booster includes the facility to backup and restore, though neither with this nor any other software of this type should that be regarded as a get out of jail free card: so potentially dangerous is the intervention of 'optimization', 'boosting' and 'performance enhancement' software that a computer can be rendered unusable after a 'boost' to the point that even roll-back and restore isn't possible.

None of the foregoing should be taken as a specific criticism of today's offer. Rather, it's intended to re-emphasise the volatile nature of all and any such products -- and, too, where the Windows operating system is concerned, to remind other users that Windows itself actually incorporates many diagnostic tools which should always, but always, be deployed *before* using third party commercial or freeware products to fix a perceived performance problem.

AV and, especially, malware scans should also be undertaken first: if you're one of the few who isn't running the freeware version of Malwarebytes in the background, then (a) you should be and (b) should resort to its in-depth scan before handing over your computer to the tender mercies -- which might not be that tender -- of a far-off software designer in a far-away place.

On which basis: sincere thanks, GOTD, and thanks, too, to today's developer. But for all the reasons given above, I'll leave the testing and evaluation of this to others here who may well be more interested than I am in software which, by its very nature, will always have the potential to do as much harm as good.

Do I still need this?
