Presente3D - It's looking good to me. It gives presentations a breath of freshness and originality. Thumbs-up, in my opinion.

After giving this GAOTD a quick test, IMO this is a very useful program even if you do not use the stereoscope mode with 3D glasses. The alternative 3D graphic mode can liven up a presentation, if used for only certain select slides to give them extra punch, make a statistic or concept standout, as a title/chapter transition or to wake up the ‘after lunch’ audience. To get idea of what the program could do, I load the ‘STAINGLASS” sample. Rotate it in various directions to see the explored view. There are 10 layers/levels to that slide. Add any of MS PP background designs to the ‘stain glass’ side , it will be placed at level 6 and rotate with the whole window in exploded view. Also, the short ‘PRESENTE3D’ presentation that loads when you first open PowerPoint after installing Presente3D is a nice demonstration of the programs capabilities. Be sure to click on the ‘Presente3D’ ribbon tab and run ‘slide show’ from the Presente3D menu. Beyond business presentations, this program could be used effectively for club, church or instructional presentations. I will keep this one.

BTW, Although I did not see the usual .GCD fie when I unzip the GAOTD/GOTD download, the program installed and activated without issue. [Win7 HomePrem, i3, 8GB] Also, I think there is a major misunderstanding about the time limit on this GAOTD program and the paid version. The program is still fully functional after the time limit has expired, but you will no longer get the updates to newer versions after the time limit expires. But program will continue to do what it is doing today. At least that’s my understanding based on reading company’s website and comments from them shown above.
Finally, even if I had not decided to keep this program or even download it, I may have given it a thumb up just because the developers/staff at PRESENTE3D have actively responded to comments today. I appreciate their interest and willingness to work with people having install or use problems. Thanks GAOTD and PRESENTE3D.

You should put it on your website though, because if it's already on there I couldn't find it. Actually a basic summary of the license(s) without all the boilerplate would be nice too.

There are 2 ways that the software is being used.

The first one is for people who want their presentations in stereoscopic 3D which requires 3D glasses or special displays.

The seconds one is for people who want to create rich graphics in their presentations. Similar to what you want to do with taking the 2D images and giving them more 3D feel. The next version of Presente3D will contain new functionality that will give even more control over 3D objects, like different special effects, fancy particles, etc.

Installed and activated without problem. Tried to render a 'suveillance' prensentation and get a blank black screen (Anaglyph).
Slides show at bottom when 'jump to" is clicked but none for presentation. There are some potential benifits to this presentation mode as it may provide depth in some models that need it when making a presentation. Although I do not see it being used for the entire presentation it could solve some problems for individual slides that need depth. PS: Very nice hard plastic frame 3D glasses are available boxed from Greenbrier Intl, Inc in VA. I got them for less than $1.

Folks... I installed and have been playing around with this software. But I'm not really sure how I can use it if I just want images in my powerpoint presentations to show 3D.

I'm not really interested in creating stereo presentations so I have to wear 3D glasses.

But tell me or show me examples of how I can use it to make flat 2D images on a ppt slide become 3D? It seems the only way I can get the images to do this is if I view it from Presente3D Add-In. But what about if I want to see it that way in just powerpoint's presentation mode - doesn't it work that way?

If not, can you tell me what the purpose is of the software plugin?

The license that you are receiving is a permanent license. It does not expire after 1 year.

well played lancasterPA. something like this used in a business presentation for that gotcha moment i think is awesome. if you haven't even used it how can you rate it? and here's your sign.

so just asked the people at presente3d and this is a permanent license. looks interesting and a way to change things up at meetings. it is free and worth a try. not something i would use at every presentation but something to change up death by powerpoint.

VOTED THUMBS DOWN Without Trying Due to Flawed Concept

How useful is a 3D PPT Presentation? Most PPT presentations are created for business purposes. Am I to distribute 3D glasses to the audience at my next business seminar showing a PPT presentation?

Today's GOATD Presente3D does not seem very practical for real world applications of PPT. I pass...because I don't need to install a frivilous software.

The license rules are awful so this is definitely a THUMBS DOWN for me.

Why would anyone have to purchase this after 1 year unless they were a 3d expert type person?

Maybe playing for it for 1 year and then removing it could be a temporary thumbs up, because a lot of people re-format their drives every year, so it doesn't matter, does it now?

OK giveaway, but not worth another piece of useless software bogging down my super-duper racer PC ;-))

Take heart all thee who find the GOTD ratings useless. Bookies in Las Vegas have a betting pool on when the man behind the curtain will switch to a more useful multiple choice system. Most expect mid-2017 target with something like this:

I can't believe all the garbage that is being written. Maybe anyone who does not have a computer with an OS before Win 95 not chime in. If you don't like that it works with the most popular paid program and all you use are freebie's maybe you should bow out too because you have not downloaded and installed this product. As for not using this in business, if someone passed out glasses and used this product for two or three slides, I would remember that presentation. No one is looking to use this for an hour presentation in business, just as punctuation of a point or idea. I have many paid programs and many freebies and this freebie is a keeper to be used along with Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Lightroom 4, AutoCad 2011 and Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection. You can't really have the power of the computer if you don't have the software to run it. Many freebies copy much of the professional programs but they are not in total the same caliber. If they were they would be what is used daily in honest businesses through out the world. No matter how much you hate "Microsoft" as much as I hate "I" anything, you still should give programs like this a fair deal. You didn't try it or can't use it, your opinion is moot.

We aware with this issue and planning to make permanent license for users who will buy $59 license. It'd has any time limitation, but you will need to buy new major release like 2.0.

Skipping, no PowerPoint installed. But to be honest $60 sounds rather steep. Strangely enough it says $59.99 (for 24-month license) here but on Presente3D's site that'll buy you just 12 months...

But Presente3D sounds very useful, unlike most PowerPoint 3D converters it doesn't convert PPT files to video but stores all 3D info in the PPT file itself. A video loses every functionality a PowerPoint has. On their site they give a few usage examples in educational settings and there it shows how logical and useful this feature really is. Add the integration into Office and there's not much freeware that can stand up to this.

Thumbs up and thanks GOTD and Presente 3D. I have my doubts about the price (any special offers for schools etc.?) but overall Presente3D looks like a really good and useful program if you're doing a lot of presentations and might be worth the money after all.

@giovanni: Yea it's the same software, just an old obsolete version. As Ulf says the Facebook offer points back to GOTD. Filesize discrepancy is due to an offline installer being offered over at Softpedia and here we get an online installer.

What part of 24 month License don't you understand? 24 month license = EXTENDED TRIAL VERSION. PowerPoint has no time limit.

You can´t get this for free on facebook. You just will be redirected back to GOTD. :(

Installation and Activation worked fine but no matter what button I click now I always get the "Access violation error at 0×000000000 ....)

Uninstalling and Re-Installing doesn´t fix the problem.

If you have PowerPoint 2007 you need Office SP3 (not Windows SP3) installed. Do you have it?

On Softpedia old info, they have RC version 0.99 (current version 1.1.278) with presale price that was available till 1st of October. You cannot buy it now, for this price. And size of the file more than 150 Mb, because they have a link to offline installation and here you have link to online installer.

I give you an explanation on to why “my thumbs down”. And, like last time, stop flaming others for their opinions, Larry.

So, here goes.
I give all those Stereoscopic fake effect software packages a thumbs down, because not just of the fake effect but more because stereoscopic motion pictures in this form are just a fashion statement which will be surpassed (hopefully sooner than never) by interactive holographic interface architectures that enable the user to not just watch but also touch with the bare hand or fingers (including the thumb with any gesture – up or down).

The technical aspect of this 3D fake effect is this: the viewer perceives such motion pictures not as real-world 3D perspective view, but as a layered stage effect. In a nutshell, imagine you have one character in the front as cardboard and an actor in the background onto another cardboard and a TV-set in the middle between those two characters onto another cardboard. Every motion carried out including left, right, back, front, up, down is on two dimensional planes. So, the effect you get with this software is like cartoon movies are made. You stack each object in screen-space behind and in front of other planes or layers. Real-world 3D perspective works similar with the main difference being that each object has additional 3D object space dimensions in the X, Y, Z coordinates on top to the X and Y coordinates of such 3D fake effect movies.

Another issue is this: not all people perceive this 3D fake effect as blissful or as 3D at all and some people complain watching it as it restrains their eyes too much.

So, yes, it’s a thumbs down on my behalf. Not because of who the maker is of this software but because all software of this type. No offence to the maker of this software, by the way.

Okay, let me try rewording my comment in a way that won't offend the censor.... I've just realised that both the GAOTD version, and the $59.99 version of Presente 3D are TIME LIMITED. I strongly feel this to be unfair to the consumer. People should not have to keep buying the same piece of software over and over again!

Make sure you have Microsoft Office SP3 installed on your machine. Otherwise, the ribbon bar will not install correctly.

I downloaded, installed, and registered per instructions without problems. I could only try it in Anaglyph mode, but it really works, especially when you twist the slide.

I downloaded the software and installed.
After installation I started PowerPoint 2007 (on WIN XP with SP3)
I don’t see Presente3D Tab on the Ribbon Bar as sated in the readme.txt
Am I missing anything?

@Stortch. Anaglyphic stereoscopic 3D will display on any computer or TV, but you need to wear red/blue stereoscopic glasses to view the effect. Without those glasses, you'll only see a 2D image with red and blue ghosting around the edges of objects.

I haven't checked out this software, but generally there are three popular types of stereographic 3D encoding:

1) Anaglyphic 3D can be displayed on any monitor, and is viewed through glasses with different colour filters over each eye. In the case of this software, it appears to be Red and Blue.

2) Passive 3D TV is displayed on a TV which has a special screen which causes the light from one picture to be polarised horizontally, and the second picture to be polarised vertically (the two pictures are usually interleaved to create one horrible picture if you try viewing it without special glasses. Viewing through polarized glasses causes one image to only reach one eye, while the second image only reaches the other eye.

3) Active 3D TV needs to be viewed through glasses which alternately allow one eye to view the picture, while blanking off the other eye.

The RATING SYSTEM here is over manipulated and measleading, but GAOTD team seem to be totally unaware of it or even indifferent to this problem.

I've hit a problem though, each time I try to show a sample slide in Presente3D I receive an Access violation error at 0x000000000 (tried to write to 0x00000000), program terminated.

Any thoughts?

I don't have 3D glasses so I can't comment on the quality of presentation. I can see why it has a LARGE amount of thumbs down. 1 I will now have to purchase 3D glasses to be able to work with it properly !
2. After 1 year I will have to purchase the product!
