Downloaded and installed fine however I had to use 2 E-mail addresses to register the first one failed & that was my primary e-mail the one I use to sign up for all GAOTD programs. The second e-mail was one of the throwaway yahoo accounts which worked fine.

I was angry that they did not send a e-mail with the registration info to my primary email. Talk about a crappy program developer if they can not recognize or successfully send the required registration info to a very large primary ISP's Email.

The fact that, that alone left me unimpressed. That failure to send my registration info to my primary E-mail alone made me wish to not even bother with doing any additional tests, but I persevered even further. I had hoped it would get better, but it did not. In fact it only got worse.

Some of the other things wrong that I noticed.

1.
There is no way for me to change the encoding style. At least there are none to suit my desires. I have 3 choices. Low, medium & high. What do they think I am doing here do they think I cooking a stew on the stove or what? Just what kind of choice is that for encoding a movie? The choices offered do not help me in the slightest. I like a complete choice in the Bit rate I use from 900 KB to 25 MB.

2.
I like a choice in the audio format I use. take for example the uncompressed audio such as PCM of the primary AAC or AC3 for surround sound or simple 2 channel stereo sound say I want to use a MP3 audio encoder.

3.
Where is my choice to select what audio source I want to use? I don't know about any one else but all of my MKV MP4 and AVI format, DVD rips have more than 1 audio source to choose from. So whether I wish to use the primary English 5.1 surround sound source or if I want to use the Spanish, Russian or French audio source. I feel that this is a necessary feature for all DVD encoder programs

4.
Now there is the lack of my being able to add subtitles or choose what audio source I want to use... All of that plus the added fact that there is no way for me to control the exact audio bit rate I wish to use to suite my preferences leaves me with nothing in the program to make me want to use it or keep it.

5.
Did I mention that there is also no way to manually or auto add chapters to a movie file that I want to encode. Not unless I actually divide that movie in to 12 to 24 pieces first.

There are lots of things wrong with this program and not enough done that is done right.. This is now going to be deleted and thrown in to the cesspit. This program is not a good choice for use in encoding Blueray DVD's.

This program gets a big Thumbs down from me. Take my advice and avoid it completely check out Giovani's suggestions and try some of them instead. i know i will be.

Thank ypu Leawo & GAOTD for letting us try this program for free today but please take some of our advice that has been suggested here & take this program back to the drawing room.

Get to work on adding the missing features I mentioned. Once those features are added, then and only then will this be a competitive product for those seeking a a good Blue ray DVD encoder.

In my opinion this Blue Ray Encoder remains as a bare bones encoder and might be useful to some one with no experience in creating a DVD movie disk. But for anybody with any experience in encoding and in making DVD disks then this program is not worth the time or effort.

With over one hour left on today's offer, I decided to give it a whirl and downloaded and installed with no problem, but when I tried to get registration code, the web page "hung" after I entered my name and email and clicked GetKeycodeNow button. So I tried again on my other computer and got the same exact result. It shouldn't matter, but I am using 64-bit Windows 7 on a multi-core AMD computer, all up to date. Naturally I checked my email inbox and spam folder anyway but no code. If it matters, I ran it as administrator.

Since there has not been a reply to questions on here or any posts from publisher, obviously the No Support claim posted by #4 is likely true. I don't really need extra junk to clutter my system. Plus I never received the registration last time they had a product on here.

From the descriptions I've read, obviously I'm not missing out on anything except guessing games n headaches. I've tried other products that don't give proper disc-sizing info n they were useless.

Come back when u get ur act together, Leawo.

#13 You did Not ask a stupid question. You need the proper hardware to match the software; so yes, you do need a Blu-ray burner to burn Blu-ray discs. Thank-you for asking the question which others may be wondering about.

"But within hours of purchasing the software I discovered that there is no display of how much space the converted video required to burn which meant burning blind and taking the chance that my project would not fit and my BD-R would be wasted."

This is not true.
Maybe the commentor was using a much older version.

Because when I used the software Ver5-1-0-0, (this one given here in GOTD) there is a clear horizontal bar diagram. It shows in green the space taken up by the video I am ripping. It shows in a red vertical line, the maximum space that the media can allow. Anyway we would know that already, since we know the maximum capacity of any media (CD/DVD/BluRay) that we use.

This horizontal bar indicator was introduced since Version 5-0-0-1.

Thanks to Leawo Software + GOTD.
Got the serial key sent to my Gmail inbox.
Easily installed and activated.

This is a good software.

Remember to turn off the "auto update" in case this invalidates your GOTD key. It may or may not. Or it may not invalidate for the first year only. Leawo or GOTD can clarify this.

You can choose the preferred language of subtitles.

There is a choice of prepared templates for your use - Education, Holiday, etc....
You can customise your own.

The editing features are alright.

The Menu even has an item for you to report Bugs, if any.

User interface is intuitive and easy to use. There is no need to plough through a thick manual for 2 weeks before you can use this software.

More surprisingly! unlike other sources online, there are without any limitations in the free Mac Blu-ray creator! Apart from helping me create my videos to Blu-ray, it is amazingly in full support of generating DVD disc. OMG, it is really fantastic tool! Here I have one doubt: does it support the newest Apple OS Mountain Lion 10.8?

It would be nice if I could actually use the program. It crashed every time I attempt to execute it. I disabled DEP, rebooted and it opened long enough to enter the code. Said it needed to restart the program. Hasn't opened since. Keeps crashing.

Users had this same problem with Leawo DVD Creator when it was offered here a few months ago. I don't see how a software developer can stay in business when it produces apps that simply crash more than they work!

Well, in fact, I don’t have any current need for this program, but still downloaded this program and registered for it for future use. I made a test upon it with a very small file and it seemed to have very stable performance. Have to admit that the disc menu and template setting panel really successfully confused me. So, I just skipped it.

I am wondering whether you guys also have such problem: the software will get stuck a little bit when the video file imported is too large. As to other aspects of this software, it is able to burn videos to DVD and BD disc quite well, and the embedded functions are enough until now. Can anyone tell me whether it is the shortcoming of the software or there is something with my computer operating system?

Unlike a lot of people I got my reg code almost immediately (it did show up in my junk mail folder, though.) I assumed this was a basic burner with Blu-Ray capability but it turns out to be a video converter as well.

Selecting "high" quality burning on an i7-920 system it took about an hour to convert, a couple minutes to generate a menu, 20 minutes to author, and another 20 minutes to write to an ISO file. That's about as long as the movie I used which is interesting considering Sony Vegas generally takes *twice* as long to render in high quality. I also noticed an interesting phenomenon while using this software. The converting maxed my CPU as expected but this is the first program I have used that has maxed out my memory during the authoring stage. 11.7 GB of my 12 GB RAM was used and I kept waiting for Win 7 to crash but it didn't. I guess this program doubles as a memory tester?

My one gripe is the "quality" selection. The conversion process actually made a larger file than the original movie and it won't fit on a BD-25 disc (even though the original movie did.). While the program did warn me of this, it seems a "high" "medium" or "low" video quality selection is quite limiting. A much better option would be for the program to calculate the optimal rendering quality for the size disc we are using and adjust accordingly.

#13 Matt,

You can burn the Blue Ray discs without a blue ray burner, just insert any disc in the microwave for 5 seconds and you get a burned disc every time.

But seriously, you need a Blue Ray burner to make blue-ray videos.

I downloaded the program early this morning. Shortly afterwards I attempted to register it with my Hotmail email account. When I received no response I attempted to register it with my AT&T email account. Still no response from this program publisher, hours after I posted my email addresses. Why would anyone trust a company who treats their customers like this? There is certainly a feeling of dishonesty after being treated in this fashion. By the way, I used both Firefox as well as Internet Explorer. Personally I will have nothing further to do with Leawo Software.

Very disapointing

Time table: what happened
1.) message like: registering accepted - mail is on the way ...
(Oh, seems to work)
2.) A second attempt (later) with the same mail address gave a message like: this mail address is already registerd...
(Hmmm, have to be more patient???)

3.) As times went by tried - step by step - with FOUR completly differnt mail addresses (rather: mail services) - always the same ending.
(are they fooling me - just piling up addresses...?)

...) Since first registering now almost 10 hours went by...
(???!!!#*???)

And NO:
- it´s not due to a spam filtering!
- I didn´t use 10-minute mail addresses!
- I used common mail services

I tried now following installations
(7 ULT, x86 with almost every possible dependencies installed you can think of):

-manufacturer’s page setup: doesn't run after install
-setup from here: doesn't run after install
-official demo version: doesn't run after install

What's the deal?

Cleaned everything up. Installed, started the program in Sandboxie Demo
(get it here http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?DownloadSandboxie) and
it runs fine. Registered, closed the program, moved the files out of the Sandbox.
Now it runs without the Sandbox and this was really weird and annoying.
Hope it helps for people with similar problem(s).

All installed well - I used the download link provided in the Leawo email after registration, rather than the GOTD download file.

Re #5 - this is not a Decrypter. Its basic blu-ray authoring software and I'm happy to give it a go considering there's not much out there available in freeware.

WARNING - do not install blindly by continuing to press "Next" unless you're happy to install the K-Lite codec package. Thankfully I noticed a checkbox which allowed me to uncheck the installation of K-Lite. Installing this codec package will rearrange your existing codec set-up and other video software on your system may be unplayable. I'm not sure how well this software will work without the K-Lite codec package - I intend to try using this software for adding basic menu's to personal HD camcorder recordings and some HD DVB-T captures. I've yet to test it, but I'm hoping it has the ability to remux existing HD video, rather than re-encode (where it will lose quality). The fact that is uses tsMuxer gives me some hope.

Depending on what users need to do, a directshow codec package (such as K-Lite) may be required if you intend to burn many different video formats to Blu-Ray, however I'm not sure why anyone would want to waste expensive Blu-Ray discs for burning compressed video formats.

OK, it would appear that some browser / OS / IP address / e-mail address combinations work and some don't on Leawo's registration page. You may or may not get a grey coloured band with an acknowledgement (success or failure) - then you have to wait and see with your e-mail. An ISP account was OK, yahoo was recorded as sent but no e-mail received.

The registration process is about as flakey as the program appears to be - it doesn't appear to recognize the external BD drive on one system, and seems to auto-abort on start on another.

OK, maybe time to heed #3 Maureen's warning.

OK, this is probably the most breathtakingly stupid question ever, but--will this thing burn blu-rays if your computer doesn't have a blu-ray burner? Because that's what it seems to imply and I don't understand how that is possible. But it would be great for me if it's true, because I have a bunch of blank blu-ray discs and no burner.

I d/l installed and registered trouble-free on Win7 32bit. I had just tried a project converting an older VHS instructional tape to mpeg using a video capture device. Unfortunately, after several attempts using three other software programs, I could not produce a DVD that had kept the audio synced to the video. When this program appeared on GOTD, I tried it, and VOILA; it was the only program that produced a finished product that had the audio synced properly.

I downloaded this software but was very disappointed to see it's one of those which requires you to go to a website and give out your personal information and email etc and subject myself to even more advertising and spam. Im already so sick of the hassle of having to wade through spam and advertising, that I rarely ever check my email.

Make it so you can try out the software without being forced by the developer to give them your email and your personal information.

Today's giveaway looks very effective for decrypting and burning Blu-ray discs, but in my view it's not as good as other freeware & shareware out there for ripping to different media types and/or for video editing (it sports only basic features).

So if you main goal is to backup a copy of your favorite Blu-ray DVD movie, then this software is the right tool for that, despite having a pretty slow burning speed compared to other similar apps.

BEST FREEWARE ALTERNATIVE:

* DVDFab HD Decrypter
Can remove almost all DVD protections of a whatsoever DVD and then copy your DVD/Blu-ray to your HD at higher speed than this GAOTD (for FREE of course...LOL!!)

http://www.dvdfab.com/hd-decrypter.htm

* DAPlayer
Breakthrough Blu-ray DVD HD videos playback for playing high-definition videos, like Bluray, AVCHD, TS, MKV, MPEG4, H264 video formats. Supports any commercial and homemade Bluray multi-track video/audio and subtitles, and can also be used to decrypt and backup blu-ray movies (compatible with BD+ and AACS protected Bluray) so as to play them from your hard disk and even from your virtual driver.

http://www.digiarty.com/

If you are not 100% sure whether or not your system is really capable of playing high-definition movies (Blu-ray Disc and Blu-ray 3D content), give this great free utility a whirl:

http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/bd-support/enu/index.jsp

As far as video editing is concerned, besides terrific freeware like "Avidemux", my today's recommendation goes to this awesome FREE app designed if you are eager to perform more advanced video editing tasks on blu-ray videos

Found this on Download.net
Avoid this product and this company at all costs. The Leawo website claims customer support and phone support which are non-existent and forums which are either empty or full of customer questions with no Leawo answers.
I purchased the Leawo Blu-ray Creator to add to my suite of Blu-ray burning software as it seemed to come highly rated. But within hours of purchasing the software I discovered that there is no display of how much space the converted video required to burn which meant burning blind and taking the chance that my project would not fit and my BD-R would be wasted.
After several attempts using extremely small video files it turned out everything I burned was unplayable. I used all the same hardware as I do with all other Blu-ray burning programs - all of which continue to work - but the Leawo program continued to put out unplayable discs.
That's when I discovered that the link for phone support on the Leawo site links to an email contact page as does the support link. The emails I received - all seven of them - only asked why I didn't use their trial version first. None of them would address my issue or attempt to help me with them.
I opened a complaint against them with Paypal hoping to get a more helpful response but it was the same.
Avoid this program and this company at all costs. Before purchasing any software check the links on support and look at the companies internal forums and faq's. I made the mistake of not doing that with Leawo but you don't have to.

Installed and worked great for me. I created a custom DVD and everything worked great. The only option I could not find was saving the project. I closed the app after I made the DVD and wanted to burn another one but the project was not saved anywhere. This will waste a lot of time for me.
