When a person leaves a comment it does not mean he is ungrateful or trying to nitpick or being unduly negative about the software being offered for free for one day.

Most of the time, we determine if this software will be useful for our own particular case. And sharing the views, so that from others' comments we can be aided to arrive at a conclusion.

For example, we may not fit the target customer profile for which this software was intended. We never said it was a lousy software. It is a business oriented software. You were supposed to make money using this software. Thus its price is $495.95 and not $9.99.

The members who submitted comments are not a bunch of stupid fools. They know the difference between Multiset automated keylogging and Computer Hardisk Imaging backup.

We are just telling you that there are many roads to Rome. It is just that if I have only one PC at home, then instead of doing a reinstall of Windows and other software using Multiset, (silly to reinstall the whole lot just to record the process with Multiset anyway) why not just restore your hardisk image using Acronis or Macrium Reflect or XML DriveImage.

It is a different story if you own a computer business and sold 500 NEW PCs to an institution - then Multiset may help you to install Windows and a few other standard applications to these 500 new PCs; and help you to make money.

seems a long winded way of rebooting your system, when you can do the same with acronis or easeus in less time.
I keep 3 images on my external HD. one clean install of windows, one with all all my programs installed, and a daily image (which gets replaced when I make the next one).

If I had a major virus attack, I can have my machine back up and running in less than 15 minutes.

From the descriptions from the website and the amount of programs I have installed, It would take about 1 1/2 hrs to get my machine to a similar state.

It MAY be handy if you were a computer manager and had to reboot a number of machines from scratch.

"Creating a bootable disk for simultaneous unattended Windows and software installation;" MINE WOULDN'T FIT ON A STANDARD DVD. I'D NEED A 16GB USB DRIVE TO GET ALL THE PROGRAMS ON.

So at the end of the day, I didn't bother to download this, but thanks all the same GAOTD and Almeza.

Noobie Questions:

- How big of a USB flashdrive do i need for a 650GB HD?
- Can i use an external HD instead of USB flashdrive or discs?

After I format my hard drive, this GAOTD will be gone, so will I need to buy Multi-Set to run it?

If you need to format your hard drive because a program is 'corrupt', a disc image will just replicate your corrupt system.

Right?

That's why we need something like Multi-Set, right?

I bought Macrium Reflect, but I will install this Multi-Set giveaway.

@33, #16 – Tomasso is not to be taken literally. He was quoting/alluding to Shakespeare's speech spoken by King Henry before the battle of Agincourt, in which he praises his soldiers, describing them as a band of brothers. See it "live" here:www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRj01LShXN8

Tomasso was saying that GOATD regulars are similarly knit together into a "one for all; all for one" (to borrow from another classical writer) group.

I just installed this great program. I had no idea what it is used for, but I installed it and I'm very glad I did. I will be using it from now on, even if in the future I need to purchase it. Very user friendly, and I need these types of programs because I'm not computer savy. Thank you GOTD and a real big thank you to Almeza.

Very nice program. Give it a try!

to #16 - Tomasso - I am glad to announce that I am still female or a "Sister". I come to GOATD every day and enjoy trying out their software and many wonderful programs.

I've read many comments and I can assure you that the comment you speak about has no hint of being someone from the company.

Being one of many many "Sisters" that come to GOATD and combined with many many "Brothers" that come to GOATD I would say that we are varied and very much more than "a few".

I, for one, can think on my own regardless of what a comment says, I do not get dictated to. Obviously you have a problem with people making a comment about the software offered and perhaps should stay out of that area until your mood is a little lighter.

Almeza, I thank you again for a wonderful product. I'm looking forward to saving myself a lot of time doing a fresh install of my system.

Maybe this summary on the developer's website (http://www.almeza.com/content/view/61/75/1/1/) gives a better explanation on the functions of this software "So, MultiSet is the program designed to record and playback the user's actions. MultiSet reduces the software installation time to the minimum. The program copies all your actions during the playback so you should be very attentive during the recording.

MultiSet will be a big help for you when you install and reinstall software again and again."

#8 Fran wrote:

Fran, have you thought of removing the Hard Drive from that sulking PC, and purchasing a 'hard drive dock' which can be plugged into a USB port on your laptop? Once that's done it's easy to pop the hard drive from your main PC into the dock and copy all the goodies you want to your laptop drive?

Docks are very useful and can be purchased quite cheaply. I did this when my main PC went just like yours. (I have a feeling that these docks only work with SATA drives, not IDE, so you'd have to check that, especially if your main PC is vintage and uses an IDE hard drive).

These days though it may be possible to get one that supports both SATA AND IDE drives. Worth an online search if you take that route.

if you need a little assistance there are good help articles and videos on the web that show how to remove a hard drive safely. It's quite simple, just make sure to disconnect all power to the PC, and rid yourself of static before touching computer parts.

I just don't understand what advantage this has over Disk Imaging tools.

With Windows 7, drivers aren't even a factor with disk imaging tools and you don't have to wait for everything to reinstall. With a hard drive image, I can restore a system in about 15 minutes.

If you loose your cpu you loose this program ..I agree with the previous poster there are free imaging software out there..
Paragon backup and recovery free
Macrium reflect free
Easeus todo backup.
I have used all 3 of these and they work great ...create a rescue disk...save an image on an external HD ...If you need it put in boot disk and locate your image file and 20 min later you are back to full ....everything is back awesome.Pat

#15, Tomasso,

Hmmm... would Olumide have bashed the user manual if he was from Almeza (no lunch from the boss if you highlight a problem like that)?

#8, fran,

You might want to consider getting a USB to IDE/SATA Cable ($20), which would allow you to temporarily connect your main PC hard drive to a USB port on your laptop, to act as a secondary drive. This would allow you to move files to your laptop.

However, note: When most of your main PC software was originally installed, it made registry entries that were particular to that machine's configuration. Therefore, if you copy over the files for a particular piece of software, it will most likely not work properly, if at all, on your laptop. There may be licensing issues, as well, with various pieces of software. But you can recover pictures, music, etc.

to Bruce Epper (#19 on the current listing): from another Bruce FWIW: Apparently you make good use of the WAIK with your relatively frequent reinstalls, at least compared to my two KVM'd AMD multi-core machines. Considering the differences that regularly seem to pop up between the two of them, I'd be surprised if one of them didn't reject something that worked perfectly fine on the other one. Nevertheless, I'd rather learn to use Acronis from what I know at this point, than either WAIK or Multi-Set, since I'd be much more likely to use some of that knowledge on a recurring basis to backup and/or restore. I try not to do any more installing than I have to, excluding updates of course.

But their are free Bootable USB Creator like Novicorp WinToFlash to name one, which hasn't failed me even once.....

Since i dont use Win Vista or Win7 this program would be of little use to me...but i wont give it a thumbs down ,may be out of a blue one day i may have Win 7 in my Primary partition and xp in secondary, may be then i could make a real use of it now.

But thumbs up from me.

Have 4 teens, all with laptops, and then my laptop, and toss in 3 extra towers, I would think this software would be for me. However, One thing I like about GOTD is not just it's software but the comments. People will post other software packages that do the same or work better and most of the time, they are free. I rely mostly on 3 things. I do the inital restore disc backup when I get a new machine, nortons backup that came with my internet service and synctoy which is free from Microsoft to "mirror" my important directories. Nice thing about the latter, it gives you a one for one backup of your files (just copies them). I keep pictures in 2 places. I know, this all sounds like a lot of work but I don't have to depend on some software that may or may not be able to restore files due to a complete wipe of my system or if it fails behind my back and I don't know it till I need it. All told, this software sounds like another tool for some tester to have but everyday users, it might be more then they need. JMO

IRT #9:
How do install new software to multiple machines?
How do you apply patches to the machines? How about multiple patches?
How many PC's do you have?

You are leaving out critical pieces of information here.
I have to manage over 700 machines and 6 locations. So this software works great for me.

IRT #2... This is true with all giveaway of the day items.... AND THE T&C EVEN TELLS YOU IT IS ONLY GOOD TODAY ONLY
If you lose your hard drive, reformat your drive, whatever.. you will need to purchase the software.

This isn't backup software, it's software to deploy Windows and applications.

Come on how hard is to read the KEY FEATURES to see it says nothing about backup and restore.

No wonder why good software get bad reviews. People just don't know how to read and get upset when the app isn't what they expected.

Ric, regarding your statement "This may be useful for computer retailers who need to install large numbers of the same PC configurations (e.g. in schools or offices)."

This is not a good option for your stated case. For this purpose, the Windows Automated Installation Kit is a better resource to use to create an installation image for each hardware/software configuration you need. I do this for when I rebuild my machine. I do a single install of the operating system and all of the software I want installed on it (Office, Firefox, Nero, etc), then I create an image that is stored on a network server. When I do an install with this image (on any of my machines), I just run a single installation to get EVERYTHING freshly installed. Takes about 2 hours to completely install my machine with all of my normal customizations already applied. BTW, my machines do not have identical hardware configurations. One is an AMD Phenom X4 system with an EVGA GeForce 9400GT video card attached to dual monitors. Another is a Pentium 4 with an ATI video card with a single monitor. The install works properly from that single image on either of those computers.

I also have other images configured to quickly set up computer systems for software testing. (I beta test for several companies, so I often need a fresh start when a new iteration of the software is up for testing. This method gets me up an running a new test environment in about 30 minutes.)

Disk imaging software is a *lot* less complicated and freely abundant. Paragon's (payware) offering is frequently given here but their freeware alternative is just as powerful.

You do have to wonder about the motives of those who continually harp on about making the applications given away portable. There can be very few systems nowadays for which processor strain is an issue, especially for the sort of small apps generally given away. Besides, the Registry isn't something about which to be continually paranoid and jealously protective.

Also remember this. The companies giving their product away for one day are commercial ventures not charities. There are commercial advantages to the give-away strategy, but obviously not to simply giving their products away on the never-never.

Thanks to Almeza for today's offering and the Giveaway team who must sometimes wonder why they bother.

Dear #1 (Mr. Olumide),

Sir you are indeed a credit to your company, Almeza ... and I am certain that your boss will buy you lunch for that lovely bit of writing. Only thing --- wouldn't it be so much nicer if you allowed we few, we happy few, we band of GAOTD Brothers, to decide if something is good or not ---rather than have our opinions dictated to us by someone from the company that developed the app?

But then, that's just me. I'm a bit eccentric like that.

The awards on the awards page don't link to the sites they claim to have received awards from. That's a bad sign. Those pictures, if the award is legitimate, should link to the rewards page of the website giving the award. That is usually an indication of falsifying an award.

There is no address of the company given on the website (or at least it's hard to find). An IP check indicates that they are in Russia.

The software still might be OK, but something is definitely fishy.

The Almeza Multiset website says:
"Q: Who are your customers, what is the target group of your product?
A: Our users are people who value and save their time, people who are used to giving routine work to computers. By automating the process of restoring and configuring the computer, MultiSet helps our customers save time. Mostly, our customers are:
- administrators (system administrator, network administrators)
- computer first aid services
- customer technical support services
- individual users
- educational institutions (schools, colleges, universities)
- companies possessing a large number of computers."

Read Lou2, PhilS and Chris Locke's comments. This automation software cannot overcome unexpected dialogue box. Human intervention is still required. You don't expect me to redo my PC software installation all over again just so that this software can record the process. That would not make sense.

Though "individual users" are listed, probably those users have numerous computers of the same hardware configuration.

This may be useful for computer retailers who need to install large numbers of the same PC configurations (e.g. in schools or offices).

Moreover, nowadays software installation offers the user to make choices e.g. whether you agree to install a certain toolbar, whether you agree to make their borowser the default browser, whether you want to associate all files of certain extension format with this software, etc.

Some require you to activate/register online. Some require you to key in individual passwords that comes with each piece of software.

Some quirky software like Nokia PC Suite expressly forbids you to re-install an older Nokia PC Suite if your PC has been updated with a newer version on-line. This will defeat Multiset.

It is not for me as a single computer user who already has Acronis backup and ERUNT.

Hi, I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'll ask again - Can this Program be installed on (my) existing USB Drive, or does it make sense to install it on (native to Windows) C ?

Secondly - What does "Creating a bootable USB Flash Drive" mean, and where would it be installed (in case of Sys crash)

I'm resigned to use laptop (where I practically moved in..) and rely on my USB Drive which I already had when my main PC crashed (noticeably some of the Programs I copied from it to big Drive at the time of it's use still exist in their "skeleton form", but won't work in conjunction with laptop - XP Pro here, XP Home there and different "set" of Registries?)

Can I possibly "use" this Software to bring the old one "from the dead", or will it only work to create what's on laptop - in case I wanted to move everything to a different PC one day.

Oh, I never give up on my other PC:), it doesn't send any signal to Screen when switched on, I just know lots of good stuff is still on it, but it won't wake up..

Thanks in advance for some answers and suggestions.
I welcome Software such as Today's Giveaway for reasons I described above. Long live hope!:)

#3, David: Thats fine for one machine. What happens if you want to install some software on multiple machines?
This software is great, until an unexpected dialog pops up, or the screen doesn't appear in the right place. It can cause awful problems, as the software blindly presses buttons (a bit like how my parents use their computer...)
AutoIT is better. Its free, and works via window captions, screen controls, etc. It can be much better programmed, scripts edited, etc. Its a bit steeper learning curve, but the end results are much better.

I downloaded this the last time it was given away.

AT first it can seem a little awkward to use but if you persevere then it has great use.

It is not really for the casual user but if you are somebody that is often installing OS's and software again and again and would like to cut the time it takes to do so then the automation that Multiset offers is invaluable.

The developers could perhaps put a few practical video tutorials on their site to both show it's real potential and to give users both an initial leg up and incentive to explore more.

As mentioned earlier, for the average user, disk imaging is the way to go in order to safeguard against disaster recovery.

As I recall, this is basically a keylog type program. this means, for it to do what it says, you have to install every program, even the OS, at least once for it to be able to copycat the install. So, for the private.. individual user, this would mean scrubbing your sys and reinstalling everything. No thank you.

Wow... again? When GAOTD gave this software away some time ago I didnt quite realise its immense abilities and importance until much later. Folks, if there is a must have software, especially with the comments some have made about losing softwares when formating their systems and such stuffs, then this is it. It truly does what it says it does! Not many options out there and even the existing options can t compete with this in terms of user friendliness and functionality. The developers should however make their user manual page simpler language. I personally would like to be a distributor in my area and country. Nice one guys and I appeal to all ... INSTALL this one!!!!
