Hello, I downloaded this app.(SoThinkFlashMenu.zip) today 11/17/10 from this here site, and scanned it, in it's RAR form, with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011.(updated), It found nothing while in RAR, so I unRARd it, and tried to install it, and halfway through the install KIS terminated, and quaranteened it. It reported it as a (PDM worm P2P generic) it said "Legal software that can be used by criminals for damageing your computer or personal data". I very cordially wrote in a comment, right here at this site, what KIS had found, and you (the moderator), did not allow my comment, (I only asked, if anyone else had this problem)so you have continued until now, to allow this software to be downloaded by everyone, and it is evident, that you pick and choose to allow, only positive comments to be made. KIS-2011 did not give me any choice, it just terminated the install, and quaranteened it. I would like to know, if this is a "False Positive"? Or is this website intentionally infecting user pc's? Why would you delete my question? I don't trust someone with biased reporting. Please check this out, and let me know, THANK YOU

Love this - thank you! I have used Sothink DHTML Menu forever, and this is a great addition to my arsenal of web design products. Really like Sothink products.

Everything installed smoothly on both my XP laptop and Win7 desktop.

@ #17 - yes Flash doesn't always create the best SE websites and I'm not an expert, still learning SEO techniques. But Sothink DHTMl menu creates the menus and you can add SE friendly code generated from the menu to your website that will not be seen by users just engines. According to the website Sothink Flash Menu builder also can make SE friendly navigation or code. Just a comment.

Thank you Sothink and GOTD~

Where I said "tot," I meant "too" in my post above.

Apple users: tell the Apple company on how you feel about Flash! It's such a shame they rather go for themselves than compatibility!

@Studds (#17 at this time of posting): Apple has refused to cooperate with Adobe, which is Apple's problem. Why? Don't ask me, maybe they feel tot conceited about themselves and would rather be the only one company for all technology, IMHO.

I've been meaning to experiment with Flash and create a Flash menu, but I never found time to do so. I believe some other type of website menu creator has been offered here before, but I didn't have time to learn how to use that program. My only experience with SoThink was with their SWF decompiler, which helped me extract songs from a flash-based program. I'm looking forward to installing this.

Great program. It is quite a lot of work to customise and modify open source javascript code as an alternative, besides having to know or find out how! This program makes drop down menus really easy!

The program has an error.
If you move forward by one month (December) the System Clock, the program will display the activation window again.
The top menu "Help" will show again the items for registration application of the software:

Help->
"Register now..."
"Order now"

I hope this problem will be correct in future and I hope that the software is offered again

I have no idea weather to ask here or the forum? If this is a good program if you are new to making a web page etc or if you need to be experienced etc. I don't expect a rating helpful or not on this, just I'd like to know because I have no idea. but I am trying to learn Thanks Donna

I posted this in the "Feedback" area, but it vanished on submission so I will post it here instead.

---------------------------------

I think you would sell more product with a better looking design for the box you use to represent your software.

When I think of "SoThink" products, I think "high quality". But when I look at the images you are using for this title (and a couple of others), I might think that it would not be a very good product.

The quality of the advertising does not match the quality of the actual programs you sell (generally speaking). That is likely costing you money.

Take my advice for what it is worth, but I am a fan of SoThink products and would like to see you grow.

-----------------------------------

Thanks for this wonderful download today!!!!

Problem:

I get an error message saying the time to install this is OVER!

It is 1:50 PM CST on November 17.

A refresh on the GAOTD page gives this message:

Sothink Flash Menu 1.0 is available as a Giveaway of the day! You have 12 hours 13 minutes to download and install it.

This is another great app from So Think. I have not used it much yet but have never been disappointed in any previous offerings from this publisher. Easy to install and use. Provides lots of flexibility that I will use.

Thanks SoThink and GOTD.

Stick this flash routine in a javascript file (e.g. "menu.js"), which you insert in each page (you probably have something like this already if you are a halfway decent web designer).
Then you can change "menu.js" to your heart's content, and need to change/upload only the "menu.js" file.

Install was very simple for Win 7 (64).

Looks slick! I use WysiwygWebBuilder and will try to use this menu builder.

Does anyone have any experience using the two products together?

Thanks Sothink,Thanks Giveawayoftheday !

Download, installation, and activation went smoothly on Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Looks like another of Sothink's good, straightforward and capable programs. I only use active technology for multi-level menus, preferring XHTML and CSS for single-level, but I can anticipate applications where this will be very handy. Thanks, Sothink and GAOTD!

#10 and #15, what you are talking about is not a function of the menu generating program, but of the Web development platform or the developer's own Webdev skills. Both Dreamweaver and Expression Web offer Dynamic Web Templates (DWTs). You place your generated menu in the non-editable region of the DWT, save it, and it will automatically propagate to all linked pages. Both programs also offer Design Time Includes ("libraries" in DW) that will allow placing the menu in an include, which will be used every time pages referencing the include are published. Both of these methods require re-publishing all changed pages.

Alternatively, you can use either Server-Side Includes (SSIs) or PHP Includes to put the menu into. The big advantage here is that when you update the menu, you only have to republish the one include file. Since the pages are built on the fly at the server, the include, containing the updated menu, will be incorporated in every page that calls it.

None of these methods have anything to do with the menu gen tool. They are functions of the development platform and the developer's knowledge and experience. Flash Menu 1.0 is a tool for Web developers to create attractive, functional Flash menus. Incorporating the menus into their sites requires them to have at least a modicum of knowledge of their tools and technology. Just sayin'...

Going by previous SoThink software on GOTD, the product will at some point update itself and you will have the free version and NOT the full version.

#10- Are you a web developer/designer? I love Dreamweaver just for this. You can create templates, and base all of your pages off these templates. As soon as you make changes to the templates (add pages, forms, etc.), upon saving DW will ask if you want to add the changes to the pages already completed. You click yes, then all of your pages have the new link, page, image, etc.. You then have to re-upload all of the pages that were changed, but that is an automatic process once you open your FTP program.

If you have many pages, or work on a number of sites, get Dreamweaver. It's worth the investment. You'll be paid in time saved, which can be used on other, paying jobs.

If I'm not mistaken, using Flash "menus" for your web pages is not a good idea. Many potential systems (such as IPad, smartphones, etc) will not be able to navigate your site. Plus, it adds bloat compared to standard HTML menus. Also, there is the security aspect. Flash poses a (...hopefully only...) slight risk for infection. Why risk running off prospects?

Flash is "flashy". Some people like that. Some don't. The majority of users just want to find what they're looking for. Flash use is fine for entertainment-type sites -- but not so fine for menuing systems.

My previous experiences with Sothink Flash products indicate that they are good, well-made products. I recommend them to those who need them; I just don't think using Flash for web page "menus" is a good idea for most people.

(My personal thoughts only, for the consideration of the Flash community.)

Sounded like a great program so I installed on Win 7 Ultimate (32-bit). Seemed to install properly, but when I tried to access the first template (Crystal01) I get a script error. Hopefully seen below!

Neither 'Yes' or 'No' does anything and I'm required to use the Task Manager to exit from the program.

Selecting other templates does not produce the same problem.

You have to open your webpage and show it where to insert the code and you have to do this for each page on your site.

Any alternative program to solve this problem??

I love SoThink and their giveaways, but I think Flash menu's are becoming obsolete due to good CSS, HTML and JavaScript use.

I am a huge fan of SoThink. I have purchased several of their products. They consistently deliver high quality tools with very well designed user interfaces at a reasonable price.

Today's offering is no exception. I was excited to find out they had a new product available. I installed the GAOTD version, and I was not disappointed. Making Flash menus can be tedious, and this tool makes light work of it. It took me only 3 minutes to figure out how to customize one of their templates (I wanted to add a third-level menu). Publishing it was a snap.

Admittedly, this software is only for a small portion of our GAOTD community. But for those of us who tinker with building websites m but aren't flash developers, this is great.

Installed with out issue on Windows 7 x86 and Windows 7 X64
Templates are very simplistic in nature, that are slow to respond.

Utilizing the publish functions are fairly straight forward, however the resulting code does not comply with W3C standards resulting in potentially undesirable cross platform issues.

Obtaining SEO friendly code requires additional steps prior to publishing.

It seems like a nice program until you have to publish it, then it becomes a little clunky. By clunky I mean you have to open your webpage and show it where to insert the code and you have to do this for each page on your site. It would be much easier if it processed every page on it's own. After you have done this and you and more pages/directories later to you site you have to go through the whole process again for each individual page and directory.

Good solid programs 2 days in a row? Good job GOTD.

I've got SWF Quicker, today's menu program looks just as good. Which means it's a keeper that'll do what it says it does, and do it very well.

Downloaded, installed, and registered without any problems on Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit.

I have used other SoThink software before, such as SWF Easy. I found SoThink produces good-quality, stable software that is fairly easy to learn and use. I installed Flash Menu...and although it probably isn't the most sophisticated program to use for creating web page menus, it appears I will get very good results. Thanks GOTD for offering a SoThink product (and I hope SWF Decompiler might be offered someday).

Looks like a nice product.

To the developers:
I have run it once, just to see the templates. It had left behind it in the temp directory exactly 130 files named "jpg*.tmp". That's sloppy.
