#19 - cixelsiD, downloaded NetVideoHunter and installed as a Firefox add-on. That doesn't grab Hulu either. Time to dump Firefox I guess. It even plays videos choppy while other browsers does not.

Installing, and registering went like a charm.

Immediately I ran into the problem that the Streaming Video Recorder 2.0.7 is unable to record an XmlRpcStream.

I informed the manufacturer and they replied within 6 hours. Not only did they promise to add the feature to the next release, but they also sent me the recorded stream in FLV format.

Testing the recorder worked like a charm on other video stream formats.

XP pro SP3, Tall Emu Online Armor, AMD Athlon 1.4 - seemed to install & activate but when run throws a message that it can't find the network card... then when I close it, it tries to phone home! If I just paste in a URL anyway, it triggers Dr. Watson... the log claims that the firewall/AV Online Armor caused an access exception? But DR Watson terminated SVR, not OA (don't know if that means anything).

I downloaded this and it did download a 219mb vid for me. But Maybe I didn't do something correct at install, but when I try to convert the vid to another format I am getting a message that is saying this is a TRIAL VERSION and will only convert 30% and not the full video.

Did I miss something?

Try a different browser, I.E. seems to be having problems on a lot of things. Especially at GAOTD and FaceBook.

If you sign up for Hulu, it will record the programs for you. Just select favorites and tell it to add it to the Queue and all the series and or clips (hate clips so don't have them in my queue) will be available when you are ready. Well, check for yourself.

I'm not spending much time on this program now. As for McAfee, the red reference is specific to one file, spyware/adware they stick in the trial version. It doesn't really spy on you, just your use of the program, and pops up ads or whatever until you buy. This program would not have that in it if the registration works. mine did.

@ donna you could DL again, delete old one and try again making sure the installer and gaotd have permission to connect to internet during install. this installer connects to its site during the install.
firefox add-ons do more than this program will except for the file conversions, and other free programs do that.

Downloaded it last time it was on GOTD. Didn't like it much. It was too slow and had bugs. The search feature wasn't very user friendly and there are websites and other software that are easier to use. In fact, some websites don't even require software downloads. So, i'm going to pass on this one. Thanks GOTD.

Dose NOT record from hulu, nbc or cbs. Does a wonderful job filling up the hard drive with ad videos through. I don't think I trust a software company that out & out lies about what it can do.

Installed just fine on my vista 32 & vista 64 computers. Doesn't seem to find anything but ad videos to record. Doesn't record from hulu, nbc,or cbs. Hope it uninstalls ok. Extremely dissappointed with this

Just to clarify, those of you who are considering not downloading based on the poor WOT rating, take a look again at exactly what is causing the poor rating. You have an upset GOTD downloader who probably updated the program which caused them to lose the full program. You have someone who simply states that the site has adaware but can't back their claim up. Last, you have a faulty link provided by someone stating that the program was flagged as malicious by 3 of 24 A-V programs. To me this means that it was a false-positive. I'm not in any way saying that this program is particularly good or that the company doesn't have malicious content on their site. I'm hoping that some of you will use your brains and think about it before you write this developer off. The following is the link to the WOT page.

Downloaded and installed OK on XP3 and works well, but would be nice if you could move the clips from record to convert in batches, not one by one, The same applies to the convert side, its one at a time. It would be great to be able to set it going to do multiple clips.

Upon inspection, these two programs have an entirely different look, feel, and functionality. The present program does not appear to be an update of the Wondershare program.
2. Problems. The Wondershare program works as advertised on my two Windows XP SP3 machines (Dell Latitude E5500 2.4 GHz 4 GB, and Asus P4S533 1.2 GHz 2 GB). On the Dell, attempting to run the Apowersoft program crashes the machine, and on the Asus, after running the Apowersoft program, the machine will not run Internet, and must be rebooted.
If the problem is not solved, I will uninstall the Apowersoft program on both machines.
Incidentally, I encountered a 502 Bad Gateway error more than a few times while attempting to submit this comment.

#21 The point of the few repeats the past few days is that GOTD offers the best of the previous year's programs for a few days at the beginning of the following year. This is your chance to get the best software of last year again if you missed it for some reason or had to reinstall or if you want to recommend it to your friends and family. Sothink, Wondershare and Paragon to name a few and the efforts of the contributors to the forum have done much to enhance the quality of my life these last few years. It's like Christmas every morning to get a chance to check out new software and games recommended in the forums.

If you are also getting "502 Bad Gateway" right click and "save link as" to download the program file from GOTD (works in Firefox).

Installed fine (XP Pro sp2) and I went to a Website where I've had difficulty viewing TV episodes and got a terrible connection (I only have low-band DSL) where the video stream stopped every 2-3 seconds - buffered - and played 2-3 seconds more..

Streaming Video Recorder pieced together everything and recorded a smooth video (no breaks), though the quality wasn't 'all that' high it was very watchable - Good Job RecordStreamingVideo.net - even though your company name is hidden on any WhoIs (What's with that?)

I've been using Download Helper, a Firefox plug-in. Works great; never missed a video I wanted. I will stick with it for now, given the above comments, though I may also try a couple of other suggestions listed above at some point.

One of the great things about this site are the comments! Saved me from some bad mistakes, and alerted me to some great programs. Thanks everyone for taking the time to share your experiences!

Can anyone explain to me how you make these installs go into Vista 64bit rather than 32bit? So far, they have always picked the x32 program files folder... thanks.

Did not work for me, got "error cannot find network card"

Downloaded and installed with no problems. Doesn't work perfectly, but I think I'll find a use for it. For example, I use brief clips from movies in my college lectures, some of which I get from YouTube; but I have to go through a lengthy process of downloading, converting, trimming, etc. to get what I want. SVR allowed me to very quickly accomplish that task, and the result was a very good quality WMV file.

I was also able to download from other sites like PBS without too much trouble. Some sites, the program doesn't recognize at all; adding the URL for a certain websites doesn't do anything at all.

The interface is pretty clean and easy to use, although trimming a file is more awkward than it should be. For example, you can't easily scrub through a video to find the right place to start, and you can't pause the internal video player -- you have to stop it which resets the player to the beginning of the file.

So, it isn't perfect, but it generally does what it says it will and the converted files are of excellent quality (with lots of options to get exactly what you want without using a separate converter). There's definitely a place in my software toolbox for SVR. Thanks, GAOTF!

Has anyone tested NBC, ABC, CBS, or Fox yet? Would like to know if you can record the shows after these sites make you download their own plug in to watch videos. Would love record some shows I missed that are available online to view at a later time.

Downloaded no problems. Does what it says.Even detects movies not picked up by firefox downloader. I looked 3 full days for quality working software to convert to Archos and removed them all . Cant believe this software does it and does it well and I didnt even look at the instructions. This is a keeper.Oh and I didnt detect any virus after scanning it.

While the program installs and opens properly, I can't seem to get it to work at all (tried PBS). When you add a URL, as the instructions say, it simply opens a second window of the URL but nothing appears in the recording list. You just have two of the same pages open and audio/video running out of synch - no recording at all.
