Wonder who likes screen savers these days... now here I am offering a free utility. It is a pop3 toolbar that provides free mail access to yahoo, gmail, hotmail and others ie; you do not have to check your mails now and then... Your toolbar will check it for you and forget about logging into each mail account seperately.
Plus the utility has games, fun stuff, horoscope and all that you need to get going on the net. Not to forget about the web gadgets and links for budding web developers, who are searching methods to earn online.

Save your money as this has gotta be the worse piece of junk I swear I have ever seen. I have absolutely no experience with programing, graphics, animation/s, and probably be able to do just as about a bad job as this company did. On a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being the best, I would be hard pressed to even give this a 2 and thats being generous.
If they would give you one free hour at this point with it, I would say, try it that way, as you would see this first hand for yourself.
I realize this was offered as a free give away. But seriously, it's not worth any money period.
I would really hate to see anyone spend any kind of money on this product.

Translation of #63 according to MS Word: #25 If not against, miss, “[Titanik]” is written with main letter. With that in the quotation marks, I note. If those 11 megas-byte do not please themselves you, then have at least respect for the memory of those been killed. Any jokes are possible on this site. Decent and obscene. But this time I categorically object, since your tone is very similar to the maraud

Why didn't anybody complain about the movie? Whas it sick to bring back the memories on screen? Somehow they sold tickets to see it and someone got even richer.
No one is glorifying the death of hundreds of people. It does exactly the opposite. Just like all those movies about the Twin Towers etc. It's all about the perspective. Some people just can't find good enough reasons to complain.

I just deliberately sat there for 15 mins and watched this screensaver and, while it is an interesting piece of work, to me it is less alive than the real Titanic sitting at the bottom of the ocean. In the screensaver, the only thing on the ship that has life is the clock in the main foyer where as the real ship is alive with the ghosts of the people who walked the decks and died there. I give it 5 out of 10 for being a series of interesting drawings.

Hehe.

Well, I agree that GAOTD doesn't need our flak. They are doing what they can to make it a business, and they are doing great at that. I hope they're thriving.

About the software? Gak. Screensavers. Kinda like that desktop toy the other day. It does qualify as software for sure, but it's really not a application, at least in my mind. I mean what can you 'apply' it to?

However, this is a way for them to fill the gaps, when there is nothing to put up, they have a bunch of these, and it keeps things moving... Hehe...

Well, personally, I think screen savers should be banned so that people will stop wasting electricity by leaving their monitors running all the time. Does anyone actually sit there and watch their screen saver? When I am at my computer I am usually doing something more important than looking at the screen, unless she's a really, really hot redhead, and that generally only takes a few minutes.
C'mon people, let's start saving the world and turn off those monitors when you aren't doing whatever it is you do while you are in front of it.
I wonder if your boss told you that they can't afford to give out raises this year because the power consumption is so high that there were no profits this year, unless of course you work at an oil company....
OK, so here's the solution to offering screen savers on GAOTD. Collect them all together and have one day when they offer a choice of one of the screen savers. That way, everyone who wants a screen saver can pick the one they think will keep them glued to the screen during their breaks at the office. And then the whiners will only have one day a year to complain. And to make it even easier, tell everyone when national screen saver day will be. Plug the date into your computer calendar and cell phone, or whatever kind of electronic gizmo you have to schedule your life, and the rest of us can get to bed early and not have to worry about whatever the next days giveaway will be the night before the big event.
Peace,
JJ

I have just finished downloading and viewing the Titanic screensaver. I found it both haunting and compelling. There is an aura of sadness surrounding the display which might not appeal to many. It is an interesting device.
JJC
ps I must confess I am more pleased with the screensavers than with the free software, probably because I have no idea how to use the software properly. This does, I know, put me in the minority.

I don't mean to step on anyone's toes here, yet I would like to offer my two cents on today's giveaway: 1) As I recently downloaded AstroGemini's screensaver management software, I am currently attempting to download as much of their screensavers as possible. Why? Certainly not because my screen needs saving (after 20 years in the IT field, I know full well that screens nowadays do not need saving) but because I enjoy looking a them when I am not using my computer. My TV sits beside my monitor and, when I am watching TV, I occasionaly like to look over at my screen to see what my screensaver is doing. 2) Even though I am easily able to purchase any software that this site offers I, like many people, enjoy a "freebie" now and then with the caveat, of course, of "you get what you pay for". 3) I think that this site is a wonderful marketing tool for the various software writers - Where else, for the most part, are software makers able to receive instant and brutally honest feedback about their creations? And finally, 4) One thing that I have learned over the years is that, if someone is causing a scene and you really want them to stop, you simply ignore their behavior. Since a big factor of human behavior revolves around the "pay attention to me!" concept, if you ignore someone's behavior long enough, they will eventually stop their behavior. This is simply my two cents on the matter. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening, and I know that I will be back here tomorrow to see what the next "freebie" is.

#8, The Titanic sunk in 1912, 95 yrs ago. In order for your uncle Ted to have been on it, he must just have been a baby. Plus, if he was ON the ship when it went DOWN, he died a long time ago :P Something tells me either you are pulling our leg, or your uncle Ted is pulling yours.

I really appreciate free giveaway and thank you for the screen savers. However this screen saver seems to be a horrible rendition of what the titanic looks like today. Did any of the artists actually see the pictures submarines have taken of the ship after it was rediscovered? Above the water it looks like the Titanic, however after the scenes from after the ship sunk look like a ship cut perfectly in half sunken in less than 100 ft of water only a few years ago. Overall it seems to be a somewhat half assed screensaver with little research into the actual conditions of the ship. The music was a nice touch though and I like the comparison between then and now, they just could have done a better job with the rendition of the current ships state. Thank you anyway but not this one.

Had the same problem with my installation as #131. This screensaver won't render properly on my PC. Underwater I get nothing but a blue screen with bubbles, above "water" (which doesn't render properly either) all I get is weird gold flashing lights where the ship SHOULD be. This is the third screensaver I've downloaded from this company that I've not kept due to graphics issues. The first one the graphics were a bit cheesy, the second one they looked great until they crashed my PC, and now this one. :(

I don't mind the once a week screensaver download, but after downloading three from Astro Gemini, and not keeping ANY of them, I doubt I'll be downloading any more from them.

Thanks anyway, GAOTD.

Well, it IS compatible with Vista Home Premium. It takes 45 seconds to load. Its music is only O.K. I find it strange that all of the 'underwater' scenes 'flow', but a couple of the 'above' scenes are terribly 'choppy'. I didn't find any color 'distortion' or such but the digital clock is a distraction. I rate it 5/10 only if you are a screensaver aficionado.

If we are gonna have a relentless amount of screensavers, let's at least make them interesting. How about one that hovers over, and meanders through, a realistic city environment for example? One that traverses the city of Atlantis? Pompeii? A roman castle and surrounding village, complete with stone streets and wooden structures? Gitmo? (just kidding). Something intelectually stimulating, or even 'education in a screensaver'? I could live with that, even embrace it.
I have no time for naively rendered flybys of the outer hull of a sunken ship thanks. Even if it does have a 'Titanic' nameplate stuck on the side.
I really am trying to be objective here guys. Have some imagination with these screensavers and they will come. Oh yes, they will most definately come (sorry about the lame 'Field Of Dreams' quote, but it felt right).

Some of you fail to realize that some of us are relatively new to GAOTD.

I personally have only even known about GAOTD for a short time (2-3 weeks I believe is all it's been) so I'd never put together the 1 per week pattern.. Or any other patterns for that matter if there are any. One per week does sound like a fair deal.
I do believe in giving software a chance, and seeing as people seem to want true opinions of the software, I've downloaded it just to test it out for you all.. Here's my review.
This screensaver, while using an interesting subject for its design, is pretty cheesy by any standards. To begin with, the loading time is way too long. If I were to use a screensaver, I would want one that was loaded as it came up, not one that has dead space time while it loads.. What's the point of a screensaver at that point.
As far as the graphics themselves go, I've seen better, but I've also seen worse. The graphics seem low for the load time, but almost any graphics would as the load time is so long.
On to details. As the screensaver's subject is the Titanic, it would have been appropriate to model the entire thing after the Titanic INCLUDING the number of levels within the ship and what those levels might look like. I found, through a quick google search, that the Titanic was primarily made up of 8 levels along most of the ship. Many of those levels were of quarters. This could have been much better illustrated in the screensaver if the corridors on the levels were divided properly (for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, watch the screensaver for a while and eventually you'll see a panning camera around the broken edge of the ship and you'll see what I mean)

Overall, I'm afraid I have to stick to my previous thumbs down rating. Thanks but no thanks.

@ #41_Merril

Amen brother... amen!
A screen saver glorifying this great ship on the surface would be one thing. But going to the extent of incorporating it's death as part of the app is like opening someones grave! Even the Discovery channel had more respect for the dead during it's special about it's voyage and death then this! People will try to make a buck-($) on ANYTHING these days.

Mediocre graphics and overpriced at that. O-10

For screen saver fans, here is another good free screen saver controller that sits in your system tray. Right-click the icon for access. Very slick little app! Sweet and to the point with great features. I've been using this one for 3+ years on XP without a problem. (Just redid my entire system and dwnldd this again from their site a month ago. Works flawlessly!) http://www.stardustsoftware.com/downloads/tools/sscontrol3/
McAfee SiteAdvisor rates this site red for linking to a malicious site, not for anything they offer. All products offered here are green dwnlds.

I've nothing against the occasional freebie screensaver (currently using the 'One Ring' free saver based on Lord of the Rings), but this one is boring, horrendously slow to load & jerky to run, and is just plain ugly to boot. As Mister T would say with regards to anyone who actually blew $20 on this stinker, 'I pity the fool'.

Absolutely agree with # 41 about the subject matter being in poor taste, I'm aghast to see no-one else agrees.

The screensaver shows The Titanic sailing (let's not forget with passengers on board) and then shows it sunk. Why is this any different to any other disaster? Imagine if they made a screensaver out of the Challenger space shuttle tragedy of 1986 this is no different.

Loaded and ran as advertised, however, I was looking for something bright and upbeat.

This morbid, dark, and dreary little offering, including the funeral music, was not to my taste. Obviously it was designed to convey drama - in the before and after views. I hope no one bordering on a condition of depression finds it.

Tossed it. Maybe next time.

Thank you GAOTD for all your efforts at bringing great software every day. I think I will enjoy a change in screen savers and listen to this in the background. Many of us see your efforts and appreciate them every day. If anyone downloaded and installed every piece of software you make available, he/she is going to have 1 very sluggish computer. So maybe you can't use every piece of software offered. But let's do away with the petty comments. If someone did this to me after working hard, I would be less likely to try so hard again for those people next time. But thank you GAOTD, you don't seem to do that. Thanks again! God bless you!
