#78, Lu Hulu, thank you for providing an explanation of what happened on your system. However, 3D Text Commander isn't the ill-behaving malware that you think it is. You blocked it with your security software. It's quite possible that the 3D Text Commander processes weren't terminated by that action (I suspect that's what happened). There are also other ways that the processes could remain running. While it's possible that it failed to shut down completely (apart from the aforementioned case), that's unlikely. You can run more than one instance. If it's slow to load and, without realizing, you start another instance, it's possible that your PC doesn't have sufficient resources to run two instances at once and it might be possible for one to fail to display its UI but remain running. The running processes were why the uninstall failed. It wasn't necessary to go through a lot of gyrations. You could have just restarted your PC, then uninstalled it.

There are places in the UI where it's necessary to wait for the full preview rendering to complete (only a couple of seconds on my PC), such as loading new textures. If it's still rendering, the UI can hang for a while, or fail to respond.

I am not a fan of 3D text. For me there are very few uses for 3DText. For the most part it's tacky. Nice clean old flat text works best and looks professional.

However I downloaded this for one reason and one reason only. 3D Text can work in an intro for slideshows or video. Think about how all of the big film makers have 3D logos than spin and whatnot before you see the movie. That is the one and only thing I'd use this for. Since I do a lot of shows that combine both still images and video clips, this is something I might possibility use in an intro.

On a website or anything else. No way.

It works exactly like Cover Commander (which is phenomenal). You can use your own images, which is a good thing since the images that come with this are well...tacky.

Install and registration went off without a hitch and the program runs fine.

While I do agree that 3D text for the majority of the time is awful and tacky, you may find other uses for this, like I said above...if you do any slideshow or video editing. Also might be useful for something like a poster for a kid's room.

Bottom line with any kind of text effects...use 3D, bevels, drop shadows, glows and outlines very carefully...for the most part they simply do not look professional.

Installed on windows XP SP2 running with 512 RAM. From a free ram of about 350mb when this software is opened RAM drops to about 7MB and freezes the computer for a considerable time. When the app can finally be closed the RAM goes back up to over 300 MB. What gives?

I usually don't comment on the forums, but today's give away is an excellent program. I was blown away how easy it is to create "WORD ART" with all of the different options, you can make almost any text jump off the page at you. I wish I had been able to use it back in my web design years!! Thanks GAOFD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Setup started and when it was to start the program after setting up all it did was lock up the computer. Tried several times and had to uninstall several times. Never got it to start so could never register it so it is 'outta here'. Waste of time for me.

After activating I tried to run the program but got this message:

"Windowns cannot access specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I am doing this on my home computer so 'permissions' are not an issue.

Can anyone suggest a fix?
