Freddy's work around (#18) seems to take care of the crashes. I plan to use this for publishing things like vacation picture books.

I spent a couple hours looking for Open Source alternatives that didn't rely on a third party server. I couldn't really find any. I did find severely limited versions of commercial products that were free, however a 10 page limit is not ideal.

I'm happy to have this product to tinker with!

seems, this software has just deleted 22 GB software from my USB-disk (place of output file), how ever it has managed to do so. Date and time stamp of the remaining folders point to this (time of installation and program start).
I can NOT ! recommend this piece of software! Extreme caution recommenden!!
(Lucky me (!?) I have backups of everything)

900 GB here. :-(

Is there any word from the developers or GOTD about this issue?

If publishing a monthly magazine for a coin collectors club, a congregation, a school club or whatever I think this application could be very helpful.Referring to earlier comments in the thread the costs of publicising a monthly magazine online on the 1stFlip server is very reasonable compared to alternative solutions, and personally I find the "magazine look" fine, as an intermediate btw. reading a pdf offline and a usual magazine.
Some time ago I searched in vain for a embeddable pdf viewer for a hobby web page, where this program makes it possible.A small freeware utility named JPEGtoPDF will merge jpg's to pdf, and the company claim the constructed magazines are readable on portable devices, MAC and Windows, something very impressive.1stFlip does not claim copyright to uploaded filed AFAIK, something the above mentioned alternative does.

@12 1stFlip Team

The new download works.

I have opened this PDF, 88 pages
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/PDF%27s/Boekje_Verkeersborden_en_verkeersregels_in_Nederland_tcm174-337518.pdf
The counter went three times from 1 to 88.

@25 Ootie

I looked at your example. The 1stFlip output doesn't look nice, hard to read, no comparison with the original pdf. I suppose the resolution can be adjusted in the program. The download of the Flipbook is rather slow, did take about 2 minutes to have all pages available for viewing whereas the pdf file is instantly displayed and last page is right away available. Not very user friendly.

I would recommend to anyone using this program updating Adobe Flash Player first, namely:

Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.287 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh
Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.262 and earlier 13.x versions
Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.438 and earlier versions for Linux

Check and update your current Adobe Flash Player version here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I wonder why the developers from this software don't care to at least force users into updating Flash Player first, before they are able to use the software.

Had similar issues as above, so tested further. When activating click continue and the program opens up, click on "help" and register through there. The program shows up as 1.01.152 so went to developers web site and downloaded the latest release of 1.01.154, installed and continued on without having to re-register. Converted a simple 5 page pdf in windows 8.1 pro and conversion completed without fail.

I have to agree with 'FrancisBorne'. I'm sure some people like flip books, but as a customer whenever I reach a web site using one (especially as a catalogue)my personal reaction is "Oh No" and unless it's the only place stocking something I go elsewhere. Apart from a bit of show, and now so old as no longer to be a novelty, it just makes the customer experience a pain. A plain simple pdf does everything, is indexable, searchable, scrolls, you can jump to whatever page - it just works. And 'lemonadesoda' it doesn't have to be downloadable.

CRASHING PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I did it. Finally figured the problem,

I checked the boxes "Import bookmarks, Import links and Support searching."
Do this before clicking "Import" button and Voila. IT WORKED.

Imported a PDF with 195 pages and the entire program works as it is designed to work.

Imported, displays and flips pages beautifully. Seems as though the program requires all
of its instructions before importing.

Good Luck to All.

Installed on Win 8.1 x64 and registered with no problem. Attempted to export `16 page pdf file crashed on page 15 5 times. Ran in compatibility mode crashed on all tries on the last page of each try. Used all compatibility modes available no joy. all crashed on the final page. Even when loading 1 page it failed. Windows trouble shooter stated Application was not compatible. Loaded "Flip PDF" from previous Giveaway ran same files with no problems. On an up note the application has a pleasing user interface. Great potential for a screensaver. Hopefully it can be repaired and represented.

When experimenting a bit with the import option quality (or decreasing the quality a bit), trying out both raster and vector graphics options on the pdf files and ticking the other three import options the program works fine for me, importing a 250 page pdf on Dutch painters with plenty of B&W images, a small 15 p. article with B&W images and a 116 p. pdf on cartography with multiple colour illustrations.
The generated swf files could probably easily become immense if not reducing quality when appropriate.

I tried the giveaway version (which shows version 1.01.152). I registered OK using the Active(ate!) button, but experienced the crashes previously mentioned (Win 8.1 x64, 8gb). I checked the developers website and downloaded the version from there (1.01.154). When I installed this, over the top of the giveaway version, it was still registered as GAOTD version and it no longer crashed and I was able to import a 392 page pdf and successfully create an HTML page which I opened in my browser (Mozilla Firefox Nightly x64 beta) and it open and functioned properly. I had selected the search feature and this worked in my browser as expected. I did try to create an .exe but it failed to open.

The help file, that displays when program is opened, is a good example of the functionality and is quite impressive (& helpful). I personally prefer a flip style .pdf to a normal vertical scrolling view, and many online 'flyers' now use flip style functionality.
The price $99 is rather expensive for what is probably a limited use program. $15-$20 would probably be more reasonable.

Go to the website and read the faq. Looks like they want files uploaded to their server and you must purchase points to keep books available.

I installed and tried it with 4 different PDFs, ranging from 2 pages to 100 pages. This application appeared to be going through and working, then always crashed right at the end. This can be replicated every time with every PDF I try.

Installed and registered without problems, opens up to an interesting example with the ability to zoom in and out.
Just what I needed, or so I thought as when I tested with a simple PDF file it crashed and whatever I tried to import crashed the program.

Even if the program had worked it is limited in its functionality for such a high price, the inability to build a PDF file within the program is very limiting.

Charging $99 for a beta version of a program is not going to win this company any friends.
They need to get their act together and create a functional program, one can actually import PDF files and create them.

Very, very disappointed in today's offering as I've been looking for a PDF flipbook because the grandchildren love them so much, what a letdown, uninstalled!

Not sure why others are having problems installing.
Downloaded easily enough.
Momentary confusion as to WHERE the password goes - then clicked "Active," and a new window opened to accept the code.
Checked "about." Program is registered.
Too early to experiment yet. Will try and report back later.
Hope it works as I can see this would be a GREAT way to digitize & archive the numerous magazine articles I've written over the decades. Suspect GOTD & 1stFlip will sort out any problems as the day goes on. Thanks to both for the offer. Fingers crossed that it works...

Downloaded, installed and activated version 1.01.152 in a Sandbox.
Tried to convert a b/w 3-page pdf with a few graphics, program crashed.
Tried a simple b/w 4-page pdf without graphics, program crashed.
I don't really need this anyway, just thought it might be fun to play with.
Uninstalled by emptying the Sandbox.

If you want to use effects' software like this please try to see the results from an user's point of view too. I once tried to use a catalogue of this type (bath equipment, especially tiles). Different pages became very very hard and time consuming to compare. I bought elsewhere!

And keep in mind some old proverbs still valid: Time is money! Time thieves are thieves too!

Perhaps the producers of this product would be so kind and point out any advantages in contrast to pdfs besides some optic effects. And no answer is an answer too. Thanks in advance!

And as a free suggestion: Perhaps a software to convert back to pdf would be more useful, at least for me!

Everyone has different usage scenarios. We use flipbooks on our internal website. We DONT want people to download, we want them to refer to the CURRENT UP-TO-DATE edition that is easily accessible, on PC, laptop, tablet, iOS etc. without downloading. I understand in your situation, you probably wanted to refer to just a page or two, compare, print and in your situation a printable PDF might have been preferred. But for many situations, it isnt. We also use online flipbooks for examinations and tests... with the server hosting the flipbook for 1 hour (test time) then taking it down/replacing it with blank. Horses for courses.

It happened to me too... Try this:
on IMPORT OPTIONS
click Import bookmarks
click Import links

Next when it asks what you want to do with the flip book check publish and .exe

Worked fine with me this way...and I love this app now!!

Installed and NOT registered with problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

A company without name and address, but a schedule of the business hours:
"
Monday-Friday: 9am to 8pm
Saturday: 11am to 3pm
Sunday: Closed
"
... what timezone? GMT, AEDT, ALMT, CHADT, PST?

Let's see, whether 1Flip is not 1Flop...

An advice to the developer: You should give your EXE a version number. 0.0.0.0 isn't very good.

In the first activate message after program start, I could not enter anything. After continuing the trial phase (30 days - of what?), I tried to enter via the main screen. Could not:
http://i.imgur.com/HaXxZBR.png
Then I tried the "offline" activation:
http://i.imgur.com/Y9Erc8T.png

I apologize... This is version 0.0.0.0

Ok, I'll run the test phase without activation.

Upon start a resizable window opens, many features on the right side. You add a PDF...
I added a simple 12 page PDF file, the program crashed in the pdf2swf.exe:
http://i.imgur.com/83lOXVu.png (program doesn't work any longer...)

After restart a second try with a different, more simple structured PDF file. Crashed:
http://i.imgur.com/T98QJAr.png

This IS version 0.0.0.0, back to the development department! Rename the company 1fFlop!
Uninstalled via reboot. Does anybody has more success???

Have a nice weekend!
